Better a couple weeks of discomfort than the worse alternative. Hang in there, get better, catch up some reading. I was going to say ride out the winter, but you are in CA, so not much of that. Unless you are up North. Anyway, get well.

Thanks for the well wishes, I've been catching up on 44 forum notifications currently and as soon as I'm allowed to do physical stuff again I'll see if I can't clear out a ton of my projects. I missed the 9 inches of snow and 20 degree weather back home which I'm kinda happy about., and I have a nice stack of parts that showed up while I was gone so I can get to work asap.

Found a dude on FB Market Place looking to be shed of a bunch of black locust bundles.
After some back & forth negotiating I picked up 33 decent bundles for $1.81 each!
Black locust sold in bundles is NEVER heard of around my parts...EVER!
Also found out, he's got access to a pretty decent stand of locusts of various heights/girths!

We'll see how it all pans out...
Feller had a mighty pouty red-colored beak on him...but...oh well!

I milled my first board today, it wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be but it will save me a little on lumber.

Chinese 660. It did a good job of oiling until the end of the fourth board and then all the oil poured out from behind the clutch cover, I haven't looked at it yet to see what the problem is. I did get enough cut to do a 4' x 8' bench top.

You are saving as much on lumber as I am. Lol. I now have 6 chainsaws, so my savings will go up,up,up! Like the money I am saving on eggs by having all these chickens.


Hard to tell from the pictures, but my first attempt at milling was rough. So I now angle the log so I mill downhill. Much easier. Tell the wife, with all the money you are saving on lumber, you can get a backup saw.

Wow, I didn't realize it was that bad. I was just poking fun at how we justify our hobbies. I am guilty of that too. But man, you are saving money.

The saw was a little early but my wife said you better get that 400 before it disappeared, she didn’t know when anymore pro saws were showing up. The 462’s have been out for awhile and they’ve had 500’s on order for months including one for me. Birthday is actually the 18th.
