It's a good bike for sure,in still try to locate some better tires, all I was able to find locally were the ones Walmart sells, I mean they work but feel way different in turns and things from the sidewall flex. I'm find some on Ebay but I can't get my hands on them before others do.

What kind of tires are you looking for, and what width? I'll take a look at the shop tomorrow. I'm doing online dealer webinars and writing orders from home yesterday and today. The amounts of bikes and equipment we're ordering is staggering. At least for a shop our size.

26" but I can't remember for sure if they are 2.1 or 2.3

I remember the wife and I put lot of money into upgrading our original "entry level" road bikes. Then I got my first Carbon bike (a Trek Madone 5) and I could not believe the difference! If you weigh anything, and have a large frame bike, frame stiffness is CRITICAL!

At the time I was riding regularly with a large group of nuts, and I could not believe how much more competitive that bike made me. I was no longer the caboose!!! The frame flex of the cheaper bike was costing me considerable time when climbing steep hills.

I thought the lighter bike would make a larger difference for my wife, because she is only 135 lbs (and 5'10" with same inseam as me). However, the stiffer frame did not make much difference to her. Everyone talks about the weight of a bike, but I learned (that for me), frame stiffness was far more important.

Did not say I would not look at other brands … just said the features for the price were hard to match.

But you are correct, I'm usually brand loyal. Why not stick with something if it works for you.

Hey, I liked my Step Son's 29", and it is not a Trek … but the Trek in my post costs a good deal less. That said, if I could find those features in any other reputable brand, I would consider it.

Hey Mike:
I just want you to know that it is OK to look at other brands! You are the most BRAND LOYAL guy on here...lmao

Did I tell ya that the wife traded in her BMW X-3 for and Edge ST … and she loves it!!!

The nice thing is that it has the same engine as the F-150, so less different parts to stock! (2.7 bi turbo).

Let me look around in the shop tomorrow. We may just have something for you. I wish I had known. I gave away 12-15 new tires when I sold my 26er.
