This weekend I went up to my Cabin in the Catskills - there were 9 of us on Sat and 7 stayed overnight, including both my Daughters and 3 Grandkids. My older Daughter, who lives in New Hampshire, has not been to the property in over 20 years and has never seen the "new" cabin. We all had a great time, hiking, exploring, shooting and cutting wood.

I even restored the view from my Lifeguard tower of the Cannonsville Reservoir and the Rte 10 bridge. None of it was visible before I started cutting.

None of the trees were large, as this is where the Tornado touched down a couple of decades ago. But the terrain is steep and I was happy to have the light little MMWS 261 to get it done (in the heat) over the two days we were up there.

My younger Grandson asked to learn how to drive the ATV, so we put him right to work hauling out some Black Cherry.

MustangMike, the gazebo looks like it would have an awesome view to just sit and watch a good snowfall.
Oh wait.... I'd need to be a teenager, again, just to be able get outta there afterwards!
I always loved watching a thunderstorm roll in too.
How are the fireflys aka lightnin bugs up there?
I used to go sit on the roof of an old barn near where I grew up and watch the fireflys come out at dusk.

My neighbor is moving up to Freeport, Maine.
I stopped over to lend a hand to find he's eyeing up use of my trailer/s.
It's all good, after I see a blue quad in his garage that he offers me.
I just got set up!
Gunna be interesting!
No deal !

I actually think there are more fire flies down here than up there, and they have been very active this year, but the stars are much brighter up there and snowfalls are beautiful!

We did see Turkeys and Deer (and I pointed out the tracks to my Grandsons), the Blackberries are still weeks away. We also found Red Effs, numerous toads, frogs in almost every water puddle on the skidder trails, and even a tree frog (on the ground). When he left town, it was fast!

Funny you mention a Thunderstorm, there is a picture inside the Gazebo with a lightning strike hitting it (it may be photo shopped)!

Another thing I forgot to mention … Unlike down here, when we go for a hike almost all the Ash trees are dead or dying, up at my cabin they seem to be doing just fine. I was concerned earlier as they did not have leaves when the Black Cherry and most other species did, but they all have leaves now and look good.

Since about 30-40% of my mature trees up there (50 acres) are Ash, I was very relieved! Hopefully I will have enough large trees for a timber cut in not too many years. They used to log the property every decade, then the tornado hit, followed by several powerful wind storms, and as a result the property has not been logged for 2 and 1/2 decades.

Some pics my Daughter took from our cabin trip. I think her pic of the view from my Life Guard Stand is much clearer than the one I posted.

Today I sold a project truck I started on 14 years ago and never completed. 1978 F250 4x4. It was sad to see it go but at least I don't have to look at it and feel guilty about not finishing it anymore. I have a bunch of parts for it too that left the shop. Gradually getting that space back to usable status. Then maybe I can build up some basket case saws. They came and got the parts this evening and I'll deliver the truck tomorrow morning.
