Now the front of the bench. It is 6' 4" long. The front has a lot of character!

If the wife says we need mulch to freshen up the flower gardens, run. I'm guessing 8-10 tons and 8 miles of travel for volleyball/basketball sizeand bigger stone. By hand. A the years I picked them out of the field as a kid to handle them again. 20200505_155432.jpg 20200505_155430.jpg 20200505_155726.jpg

My Brother (Matt's Dad) asked me to help him today. Needs to cut the grass in the driveway of the property he is selling in Garrison (about 2.5 acres). We were taking my riding mower as he does not have one. He also took along some hedge trimmers and put his MS 241 in the back of my truck.

Knowing we have had a few good wind storms over the last few weeks I told him we would also bring a real saw, and I grabbed my MOFO 462 with the 24" bar … turned out to be a good decision!

A good size Red Maple had fallen across the driveway and was blocking our access to most of what needed to be mowed. Not that the 241 could not have done it, but it would have been a lot of work for that little saw, and he did not bring any fuel refills!

The 462 was perfect for the job, we stacked the cut wood on both sides, and I even killed a Emerald Ash Bore (right in front of the saw in pic #2). When my Brother started using the 241 on some of the larger limbs, I let him try the 462. Needless to say he was very impressed with it!

He also has 2 what I call Grandfather trees on the property. Ironically, they are almost right next to each other. A Red Oak and a White Oak, both over 4' in diameter, and by far the two largest trees on the property.

I'm guessing they are both over 200 years old.

Mounted a set of 064 dogs and a new chain catch to my 044IMG_20200505_171654.jpg
Also tried something new on the roller chain catchIMG_20200505_171725.jpgapparently garden hose rubber fits perfectly on a Stihl roller catch as you can see, and it's supposed to make those $10 little plastic pieces last longer and more importantly be more gentle on your chain if you throw one. Time will tell on that but I can say it fits.

Just got done laying new flooring in 2/3 of the house on Monday. Now I'm sitting in the hospital waiting room to get a steroid injection in my back that was postponed when the virus *s-word hit the fan.

I've cut the driveway hedge.

Soon that stupid thing will meet a quick gruesome death.
In the summer I am the one that has to cut it, in the winter I am the one who has to shovel the snow over and behind it to free the driveway.
I hate that thing!

My dad won't hear about cutting it down though, he planted it decades ago. o_O

I don't care about how it looks like, I just wanted to get the thing trimmed.
Still need to clean up tomorrow.

Thanks.

That hedge is trimmed to shoulder height, I am freakin tired.
It can not be trimmed lower because there are concrete posts, steele barb wire and a steel mesh fence in there.

Good thing my hedge trimmer has a drive slip feature so it doesn't damage whenever I catch a fence wire.

Burn it then cut out the upper wire. When it grows back you can maintain it lower.
If you don't like it now you can't kill it if you tried to.

Also planted by my dad . . .

Whenever I kill something he planted I get that look as if I was cutting pieces of him off. :(
Problem is, he is no longer capable to maintain the yard so it all waits for me to get done.
