Yes, we are currently looking for the "right" layout. Just a simple, small, low maintenance house with open floorplan.

Build a straw house. My Aunt and Uncle built one years ago. Its cool as hell literally!!! Has no interior load bearing walls so its wide open to what ever you want and it has radiant floor heating so if you wanted a wood boiler it would be an easy set up.

I cut and split some Oak and Beech in my back lot today. Some by hand, some with the hydro.

I was trying to cut through a Black Oak log and I saw sparks and my chain stopped cutting! I set the 2 rounds on end and split what I could with the X-27. Found and electrical insulator buried about 3" deep in the wood! Barely a mark on it, will try to get a pic tomorrow.

Just pulled a tick off my arm as I am writing this … hate them, but luckily it is a dog tick … the Deer Ticks are the ones that give you Lyme, etc. Just the same, my little Leatherman made him crunch!

Well the crappy plastic under pinning that I had blew away a few weeks ago so now I've decided to do the project myself, and a couple good friends when they can help. Not a one of us has ever laid block before this so dont judge me to much. Thank God for YouTube. Working on it after I get home fro. Work and on the weekends it a slow process but will definitely be worth it in the end.20190508_135841.jpg 20190515_185930.jpg 20190525_101626.jpg

You are staggering the blocks and not lining up the seams? Also, durawall every 2 courses helps a lot (instead of every 3).

Good luck with it, years ago I did the foundation for this house. Was a lot of work.

Tearing down the fence around our dog yard

our poor old heeler is 15+ and can't get down the stairs from the deck anymore

We aren't getting another dog so the fence needs to go

The deck needs power washing and fresh stain too

It's been 3 years now

We didn't do it last summer because we were in Hawaii from June through September

It's amazing how fast stuff weathers up here and how the lichen and moss grows

Note the OPE in the last picture...

I got a chance to check out the Stihl MSA 161 T chainsaw today. Pretty cool little saw, it only weighs a few pounds. I'm hoping to run it sometime next week.

Today I am just plain slow at getting anything done.
It's Sunday, a man deserves to rest one day a week.

Yesterday I sharpened two work chains, touched up and ground on two play chains, and un-Vanguarded three Oregon Vanguard chains - converted one to Archer Fast Filer jig angles too, the other two will follow.
The day just flew by in an blink of the eye, 'twas a good relaxing day. :)
