I've posted this before, but here it is again. Both upstairs and downstairs are 20 X 24 w/o any posts in the middle.

Side posts are 12' with 20' beams at 8' height. Second story is 4.5' on the sides, and 9' in the middle.

The braces were made from the side slabs cut to make the post + beam.

We used 4" angle iron, 1/2" bolts, and 3/8" lag screws to put it all together, beams are inlet 1" into posts.

Center posts are 17', with slots cut for ridge beam (27' with 1.5' overhang front + back). Ridge beam is 9.5" X 3".

These pics still include some temp braces that were not yet removed.

Thanks, it is Mtn Top 2 mi in on a 4WD road well off the grid, overlooking the Cannonsville Reservoir near Hancock NY.

It is 20' X 24', 2 stories, post + beam construction from 6.5" X 6.5" Ash milled from trees that were blown down on the property (50 acres) using a $29 Beam Machine!

The outside is just stained CDX plywood (5/8) with cement board around the bottom to stop the Porcupines.

It was a lot of work, but it kept the cost in check. We still need to put a floor in. Heat is from a air tight 55 gal drum stove kit. (I re used my old Sotz kit I used to heat my house with).

Dont tell me you drive the mustang up there.

I may drive it all winter and in snow, but it is lowered and it will not be going up there! Also, no trailer hitch on the Stang, so would have to leave the ATV home! You don't need 4WD when there is no snow, but you do need the ground clearance.

We have a 2010 Escape I take up to the property, towing the ATV on my wood hauling trailer!

That's awesome @MustangMike very old school! Great job looks like it will be there for 100 years.

Dropped numerous trees that were either leaners, or were too close to the house, or both, including Soft Maple, Hard Maple, Cherry + Birch. Made lots of firewood, and had a good helper!

Just used the MMWS 261 and MOFO 360. Unfortunately, the 360 rocked the chain while trying to stump one of them, but I think I was able to fix it, will see next time it cuts!

Cherry good for some BBQ smoke. Sounds like a busy Saturday.

Took down a dead Ash for the neighbor. Ran some saws with my sons. Was a good time! Got some good firewood and a nice test log!

I started with a Beam Machine, less than $30!!! Made all the Ash Post + Beam for my cabin with it.

They don't tell you to do this, but you can unscrew the bar holder some to widen your cuts w/o moving the 2X4. I made mine 6.5" X 6.5". I milled several 20' and 27' beams with it.

Replaced the hand winch on log cart and added a 1 7/8 ball coupler so it dont bang around on bumps. I got a cable fairlead i got to put on yet. Mabe tomorrow.

Then got the pioneer that the neighbor dropped off for me running. He was gonna scrap it. It cleaned up real good. It must be a low hour saw. Hardly any marks on it.

That looks pretty simple to make. Probly less than 10 bucks in materials.

That's a classic lol.Its got a little cancer and top speed is about 70 if your brave. I hate beating up my new trucks. I pull into the woods and just close my eyes.
