What reason do you guys think I could get Oregon chain to cut good however the same grind with stihl is mediocre at best? What do you think would cause this? Also what would you change?

Thought I would share this weekends project for my prosharp. I have had problems with my arbor. Purchased a second and still not happy with the not so trueness of it.

I 3D printed a new version in ABS plastic. So far its pretty good. Did CAD work in Fusion 360. Even printed the nut.

Mark on the shaft where the arbor sits, take the motor apart and skim cut the arbor on the motor shaft between centers in the lathe. Then there is no run out!

I have seen the motor shafts bent, I've straightened a few of them now.

What kind of problems do you notice with your arbor? The reason I am asking is because I have a pro sharp as well and I’m just not getting the consistency I would imagine to be getting.

Mine is sloppy mounting to the motor. I had to switch motors and the shop which drilled out the new arbor didn't do a great job. Plus it doesn't fit the wheels that well. If I switch wheels and then put the old wheel on I have to start over as if the wheel is new and completely dress the wheel. My printed arbor fits snug and true. Plus it is cheap to print a spare or make small changes. The best part is the fit and the mounting hole is perfectly centered and straight.

I bet you could sell some if you were so inclined... I'm fascinated for sure!
