They kinda suck. I reach in through the inlet with a long burr and put as big of a window in the mid-baffle as I can
So, you haven’t tried cutting one apart?
I’ve done that with others but can’t tell if the two tubes are braised at both ends

Might just do that. I can use a hole saw or fine burr on one side to free up the tubes and then weld back together.

What is the diameter pipe is it? Looks like stainless to me? I like the thin wall, I have issues finding thin wall.
About 1" od. Metric though. Yes stainless steel.
Husky 359 muff mods…
So, what are folks doing with these? Looking inside there is all sorts of baffles, a pipe and God knows what else. I’m tempted to cut it in half, gut and re-weld but if the bolt tubes are well braised at both ends it may not com apart.
Thoughts?
I have 2 to do.
Years ago I just added a side port and called it good :p
I cut a pipe diagonally and add to the clutch side of the muffler. I can open a large hole in the side of the muffler that the pipe covers, and position it so the hole I cut is on both side of the divider. Then I can also take a piece out of the divider to let it flow better. Very simple.

But, it’s more fun to cut out all the crap and make the thing weigh less than half 🤣

Latest one for a recently acquired 026.

Removed the inner baffle (I guess not all of these have that?). Snipped the 4 hole section out, rolled the deflector open with a dull chisel after that. Stealthy from the outside and it even retained the spark screen.

I found a mouse skeleton in my 4200 poulan muffler when I got the saw.

A few winters ago my dad and I decided we had to fire up his Bandsaw Mill after it had sat for 6 or 8 months. We got it hooked to a battery, and cranked it over and it started, but it was chugging really bad. We were about to shut it down when the head of a mouse shot straight up out of the exhaust and landed on the brim of Dad’s hat.
We had a good laugh and then milled some nice beams for my sister’s kitchen ceiling. Mice really get everywhere.
