My uncle has an 064 that he did that is a helleva runner, with no port work. Just a good timed 066 jug

Not sure. I'm using an AM cylinder so that could be some of it. I have a couple of 026 and 024S with AM cylinders and they don't sound like my 026 with an OEM cylinder.

I've got a different 039 that's somewhat ported, muffler mod, and timing advance. Just need a carb, haven't even ran it yet

I wasnt really a big fan of the AM cylinders I've tried. But it's been a while and I think they are improving

The cylinder on the 290 is the only AM one I like. I try to stay with OEM cylinders but a 290 is not worth spending that much on. I was pretty much done with AM cylinders after I bought my first one, the on the 024S. I got the 026 with AM cylinder with another saw for a good price so I can't complain about it really.
