Last Hard Maple sisters I cut were so compressed, with 1/4" rebar and chain link fence still in the center bark, amazing it does not rot away. Base was 4ftx5ft. One side is over thirty inches from the pith. The others is eight maybe nine. Hardest wood in America, period. I'll get pics. It ate three chains, RS 3/8" 105dl full, RS 404 167dl full skip, Oregon H 404 117dl full. Badassery dirty wood.

Twenty four inch red oak to the right six feet away. Eleven foot sisters they were when loaded up. We had to cut off the flair to lift them. One chain one cut, all done. Split it in half on the ground. Super heavy wood!
