Hey @RI Chevy, I almost forgot to mention that the logrite ones are on team stihl! View attachment 112970
Actually, after a year and a half of use, my Stihl branded logrite handle failed at the weld. The head is attached by a roll pin and also welded, so it didn't come apart. Actually, it still works, but I think the extra wiggle room does reduce it's effectiveness. Anyway, I called them this morning to ask about a warranty replacement or repair. I was kinda expecting them to tell me I had to deal with Stihl, since it's under their brand and I bought it at a stihl dealer. Nope. They fedexed me a new one today. It's a blue one instead of orange, which is an improvement. The blue is easier to spot in the woods.
Ain't it good when a company treats you like that......instead of questioning whether you'd buy their product again, your become a cemented loyal customer that can't wait to buy something else from them.

Great customer service there! [emoji106]
Glad you made out well.
I am a little nostalgic. I will give a good look for an older wooden handled one first and see what's around. If nothing, then I will grab a Logrite or Stihl.

I can't fault you for nostalgia Jeff, but I will say this: I've got two other ones with wood handles. They both work, but nothing like the logrite. Often I'll stick a round then choke up on the handle to lift it. The foam grip is loads better than a smooth wooden handle. It holds up well too. That and the tip is better (and replaceable). The tips on my wood ones just aren't as effective as the logrite. I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record, but in my mind this particular product is an exceptional example.

Okay, I'll try to be done now.

No worries Ryan. I appreciate the info and feedback. I just got done looking at Logrite and Peavey. Peavey makes several different head shapes.
My only reason for the wooden handle is the larger end. Figured it would be better on heavier pieces. I read somewhere that the logrites were heavier than wood handled hookeroons.

Actually, I meant to say that in my last post. The logrite is lighter than both of my wood handled ones. It's like a fiskars versus a mail, it's light and quick and swings quickly and easily. Of course I've only used the wood ones I own. I have seen more elegant looking ones.

You mentioned in a previous post that it's like an extension of your arm. I use mine all the time, and now it's even better, like an extension of my MIND!

:)

Here is mine I made a while back. I made it from an axe head from a HMMWV pioneer tool kit. Was just stamped US, cut it, shaped it and hung it. Needs some polishing but it works awesome!

I noticed the same thing Keith. It seems a litte light in the hook area and the ovaled shaped handle is a bit odd. I prefer old skool wood type round handle with a forged tip.
