Red color Fuel cap. Has anyone cleaned up and boiled one in a pot of dye?
I'm more of a function over style guy. But I do find some of the clean up and re-coloring jobs pretty interesting from a technical point.
The old computers crowd has some extensive work in getting old plastic to look nice again.

I mixed up some Red Armor at 32:1 and I may light this up today or tomorrow.
I would like to ask one more question:
Has Homelite ever offered these with their own case ?
I know I could always buy a generic box style case that would work (or a bag ) but if the company made their own case , I'd like to try to find one .

Edit : I did find this guy but I'm unsure of fitment.
Look at this product I found on google.com https://share.google/9TyYDcaoCUkRqMG6r

The case you show is a better case than what wood have been supplied with the saw. It will fit. The earlier model case was single layer and a bit flimsy. They were "good enough" to keep your stuff together, and oil off the shelf or floor. (unless they suffered a puncture)
This marketplace ad shows the age appropriate case. (not my ad)

Having a problem with the idle though.
I have to keep the throttle cracked for it to stay running . Idle screw is all the way in and the lever is past the taper of the screw and resting on the threads . Something isn't right ☹️.

Try leaning the low mixture screw
(turn clockwise slowly) Be careful the chain may begin to spin if rpm picks up.

I forgot to mention that I actually did slowly turn the low speed air screw slowly clockwise and counterclockwise from its initial setting of 1 & 1/2 turns out while feathering the throttle to keep it running. Even at its highest obtainable RPM , it still required trigger to keep from dying.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the above post ?
I think I may order a rebuild kit today and give that a shot .
The old components looked to be in perfect shape during reassembly but I may have missed something .
