I heard your supposed to put the openings on circlip at 12:00 or 6:00 position. I forgot if I had done this on mine but it's been fine for the last two years cutting hundreds of trees, I guess you get lucky sometimes

As far as I know I have never seen this happen to a saw I built or sold parts for though of course it may have happened and I never heard about it.
These kits went to the same guy who definitely knows how to build a saw.
First one let go and I chalked it up to assembly error. I made sure he knew how to put the clip in correctly.
I sent him a replacement and by pure happenstance he dropped a circlip during assembly of the replacement and used the original OEM clips instead.
Fast forward about 2 months and the second one let go and yielded this fun picture of the circlip completely unwound and imbedded in the cylinder wall.

When he called me I figured the ear broke off and got jammed up but the picture tells another story, I wonder if it popped off into the transfer and then got drug down the cylinder?
I am no Husky guru but it doesn't look like it is lined up centered.
Not sure on the tightness of the pin, he didnt mention it and I have never used one of those myself, I dont buy many Husqies.

sorry if i made that confusing, it is NOT oem in the picture, that is the second of the original two he installed aftermarket
I am checking with the vendor to see if there is any chance they will include better clips (yeah right)
Any of you husky guys have an objection to using OEM Stihl clips?
It seems silly to stock two brands of them and I already carry the Stihl clips.
I might bump the kits a tiny bit and include good circlips my self.
Shipping rates go up this month as well as pricing across the board from Stihl so I already have to change all of my prices.

If the clips are a known weak point I wouldn't even sell them, replace w OEM and charge for it. Not the part to save a buck on.

I would clip the ear off after installing if I HAD to use it. Too much mass zinging up and down, going to fail

I'd include OEM clips whenever you can, Dave. Theyre a known at this point and a small bump in price is worth the headache. Maybe add 12/6 positioning in your ad (just add it to your other instructions that you have).
Ive used Hyway and meteor clips, but avoided huztl and the eared 660 meteor clips. I inspected both hyway and meteor before and after install. OEM are better, though.

I'm not sure I like the idea of using Stihl clips in Husq kits unless they are exactly the same diameter and wire size.
