Gotta love it when a dood drops a middle finger meme in his own forum lol
Screw through exhaust port.......never thought of that (essentially a lathe dog) another idea that I'll use, thanks again guysI've seen people use just about any thing you can imagine .Walnut ,steel with a screw through the exhaust port .They all work .
A 2x4, a hole saw, and a hss cutter. Bolt the holes together. Chuck it up in a drill locked in a vise. Turn it in the drill while truing it up with a belt sander. Once it's the right size, mill out for the cutter with the dremel. That was my first squish mandrel many years ago. Worked just fine tooKind of funny on the Mac cylinder .It took me longer to make the side holding fixture and do the set than it did to make the bore cut .That boring tool is make from the axle of a heavy morter mixer with a number 2 Morse taper that fits in the drawbar type spindle .Ya gotta be a junk yard dawg to do this stuff and have a vivid imagination .--guilty on both counts.
I usually aim for a thou under sometimes two. Spray some slick 50 on the plastic mandrel and fits just like it does at home. Hell, who am I kidding about that second part lolIf you get the idea to make a turning mandrel it's got to be tight in the bore .Else it will slop around like a BB in a box car and not finish out right .Those I made of nylon fit tight as a glove .
Well not to get too explicit but KY makes this stuff------I usually aim for a thou under sometimes two. Spray some slick 50 on the plastic mandrel and fits just like it does at home. Hell, who am I kidding about that second part lol
That wasn't what I was getting at........but........I digress.Well not to get too explicit but KY makes this stuff------
Must have a lathe to be able to make your mandrel? All of you guys has some very nice Equipment. I would just love to sweep the floors of your shops and pick up the scraps that could be kicked underneath some of those machines!!!
As most of you know I'm not so high tech.... So I'll post up my "machine" I use!
