You suck! 2 lathes and a mill! I'm jealous for sure

Still reorganizing the rest of the goodies :)

The big floor mill is on the other side of the shop for fork truck access. Right behind the little lathe is the surface grinder and radial arm drill. Plan on adding a bench and moving the little, and big drill press, along with the grinders up their to dress the bits.

Yes it will be nice once everything is all setup in one area.

You can find the machine tools ,it just takes a lot of auctions and knowing what you are buying .Around these parts during the late 80's when it was a recession US News called it the midwest rust belt .100's of little machine shops closed their doors .

Eventually the stuff was auctioned off ,cheap .Then in later years with small CNC stuff being more reasonable the manual machines went up too .Of course then along came the Chinese and tried to corner the market on scrap metal and drove the price back up .

The stuff might be old as the hills but it still works .I've got a Fosdick spotting drill that will drill a 2 1/4" hole that was made around 1920 and a Boyes and Emmes 20 by 48 Lathe about that old .The newest things I have are an American hole wizard radial drill,40 -50's and the Monarch 10EE lathe ,1956.

Monarch BTW in Sidney Ohio, about 30 miles from me has excellent records .They keep a history or at least used to of every machine based on customer purchases of repair parts .My praticular machine originally belonged to Ford motor and was at a transmission plant in Batavia Ohio .Then went to Atlas spark plug (autolite ) in Tiffin Ohio .I bought it from a scrapper for 800 bucks .The one at work in the tool room cost Ford over 50 grand .The last one sold went to United airlines for over 100 grand .
I'm not sure if they still even make them but Monarch rebuilds them for a hefty price .Monarch as it was is no longer .However it has became a repository for a number of obsolete machines ,Lodge and Shipley to name one .If they don't have the parts they do have the engineering drawings available also for a hefty price .

Question is....... Should I cut this boring bar down? I don't need it 10" long

Deets, you have a 3/4 collet for the mill?

I have a 6" 3/4 endmill I can send ya to try cutting the squish with.

Not thinking that boring bar is going to like being uses as an endmill...

I do have a 3/4 collet..... Wouldn't an end mill get into the plateing when I get over to the cylinder wall?

Ohhh it's ugly....

Just a 2 flute I had lying around, so ground the flutes off all but the head, ground the head just like a dovetail cutter.

Don't have a rotary table to try it out, but I think you can make it work. If you wanna try it out I'll ship it to ya.
