And I assume some saws have more to gain than others? Like I feel my Stihl 400 is about dialed, I’m sure it could be better but by how much? Where as my 461 I love but it’s always seemed a bit lazy to me

Those both get between 30 and 40% faster with a good port job

Louder, yes, however if your muffler is designed to direct the noise in a direction away from the operator, it won't ring your ear, a bystander in the wrong place may have a different perspective though.

I would venture to guess that your Mac 700 is as loud if not louder than most ported & muffler modded modern saws. My 7-10 will make your ears bleed without muffs on.

I just don’t worry about people who are annoyed by loud saws.

I agree but I try to be civil(ish) like noise didn’t stop me from putting a hotter 360 in the street truck but I still put good mufflers on the duals.
I am pretty sold on ported saws now though, just have to pick a candidate to go under the knife. As always I appreciate the information and enabling gentleman, thanks
