I may be speaking out of turn but I think Al said in the "What's on your Bench" thread that is was to help with making it easier to start.

I love the idea of a build that is fully designed around who the end user will be. Awesome work as usual Al.
We are talking grams, not pounds. It won't effect starting one bit

Don't you think that work saws should be fun to?
Fun>Reciprocally enhanced
I agree, all saws are supposed to be fun to run. But why put a titanium lightweight wrist pin in a worksaw? Specially when it's GUARANTEED to fail.

If I can't get more than 7 gallons of fuel before something fails, it's not much of a worksaw....js

I took this from their site. I've never used one, never will. ..

No worries.

Saw is coming apart for inspection after a few tanks either way

Didnt hear about the known failures, news to me. Was only told that one failed in a milling saw once.

When i put a cut down factory pin in later, ill see what difference 8 grams makes.

Im still under stock 044 weight, even with a steel pin.

One wonders why noone wants to post build threads. I do it to try to keep this place interesting.

Hearing the negatives gets old, especially when opined in a malignant and not constructive kinda way.

The goal for this build was a saw Jack could start. I intentionally needed to keep compression down. Because I needed to take 35 from the band to make the piston crown fit, I cut the chamber up .275 in at a 45* angle .200 deep with the compound and the boring bar. Band to bore area around 50%. Wound up with 152 psi at the end. Was gonna add a MacCullogh “T-slot” to the exhaust roof, but at 152 psi and with a new Husky 390XP decomp valve, it’s a 2 finger starter right now. If Jack isn’t comfortable with the starting, I can still change it.

Top pic on the right. It looks like spark plug threads coming to a point. Are you worried about the point of the threads being a weak point and breaking off?
