Do any of you use the stick type Loctite? I use drip and stick, but prefer the stick for bolts. Much less bleed off from the stick. My buddy works in packaging development there, and came up with offering their products in a stick type. Our shop was one of the test places for it. Loctite 242.jpg

Many moons ago when I was studying engineering they brought in a tech guy from loctite. Think he spoke for a couple of hours - absolutely fascinating the amount of products, uses and ways to f-up with their sealants.
At least in Australia their tech line is a great resource, but whenever you mention plastics they seem non-committal and suggest you just have to try and see. Way too many plastics to give solid answers.

I've found a nice way of using red loctite with a base gasket delete. I'll add a couple pics for those who who aren't sure about what type of prep work is necessary for 518. The method I'm using is B-12 cleaner and a whole pile of q-tips. Discarding each one as it fouls until there is no more darkness or grey material left to clean off. it usually takes me about 20 of them before it gets that clean.

I do the same with the holes.

This paper is that stuff used in holiday packaging for delicate items. It comes in many colors, it's dry and not waxy. It measures .001 and coffee filters are .003
I'm not necessarily using these as an actual gasket as much as I'm using them to give the loctite something porous to bond to so it almost eliminates failure.

I'll put a bead of loctite around the entire base and then the paper sticks to it and completely saturates. Another bead on top to juice it up real well. I used the same cleaning method on the cylinder base and then one more wipe with a q-tip after getting the rings in the cylinder because you'll end up touching it with oily fingers one way or another. 20161130_203523.jpg 20161201_010658.jpg

I didn't see hardly any squeeze out inside.
