48zn5 is definitely the 162/630 cylinder. Now, is there a pattern to which 61s have that cylinder, or is it completely random? I may need to try and scare one up for research purposes if we can identify what to look for.

Here's some pics of an open and closed port side by side. On the ones I have the transfer tunnels on the closed port are rounded and are more square on the open, the top fins are also different. The top one is the open port in both pics

I have both on the bench as well. The closed port came off of a 630.
Just want to see if we can narrow down what era of 61 came with the closed port top end or if it was something that happened at random due to low inventory.

Seems like comparing tags (if present) would be a good place to start. Which carb may also provide a ballpark time frame.

What info would you want off my 61 that has the 162 top end?

Hi guys, thought I'd ask the husky experts. Will a 272xp cylinder and piston fit on a 268? Looked up the numbers, and they take the same crankshaft and cylinder gasket, so I'm thinking it will, but dont play with huskys that much.

Yes they are
Interchangeable.
If that's a closed port 268 they are fine running saws.
