Here's my first post on this site, figured I might as well throw up my Husky's. This was my first Husky project that started as a 371K that my cousin wore out and gave me. It sports a 52mm bore now. 24" bar, been upgraded to a 28" GB now. Does what I need it to.

Here's my next projects I acquired not too long ago. 61, 66 and a 562XP. 61 and 66 will become 1! Basically a 66/266 when done. 562 will be rebuilt, I haven't dug in too far yet. the Yugo 66 and 61 exploded last night on the bench!! Lol! Yes I am sharing the bench with a Honda 200s that has a fuel system issue that I am waiting on a petcock.562XP1.jpg 61663.jpg 61664.jpg 61665.jpg

It's a heads up on a Husky 2100 .I was using mine yesterday which I posted in the firewood forum .Many of these things which are an old school PNW hot rod have v stacks and different filters like K and N .
Unknown to me the bolts on my v stack backed out and I rattled the whole thing off stack filter and all . That pot licker took off like it had a super charger on it ,So now it might be a thing those big tubular filters vs a K and N might be a better option because they have more surface area .
What I'm going to do is red Loctite those damned screws before I put it up for storage .The one thing that would really pizz me off is to have it swallow a screw .That would really suck .

Heya husky heads.

Working on my 266xp. Has this style enclosed bearing, presses into the drum. Drum # 5018316-01. Guy on the phone said should fit, but...

Husqvarna Repair Part 501514801 - Support Bushing | PartsTree

Ordered one from HLS that says it fits the 266, but is open style. (not here yet, I ordered before verifying because I wanted to catch the sale)

Clutch drum bearing replaces Husqvarna 503 25 34-01 (hlsproparts.com)

Husqvarna Repair Part 503253401 - Support Bushing | PartsTree

Will the HL one fit in and run directly on the ID of the drum, or should I hunt up a proper enclosed brg?

Thanks

61's are known to have come with several different top ends both open and closed port.

Do we have proof on this? The 162/630 top end is a direct interchange and is closed port. I have yet to run into a closed port 61, and I have had saws from 78 through 1995 across my bench.
Not going to say it's not possible as my father had a 42 special that came out of the box with a closed port 242 top end, but it is highly unlikely with the 61.

While not seeing any personally, I've read of several "surprise" top ends being discovered on stock 61's by reputable sources. While I'd agree that it's pretty safe to say the original configuration was open port given the era/model family alone, there were indeed several hybrid possibilities between model families at the time..., obviously lending to the possibility of a couple different top ends being pulled off the shelf during production and also lending to the typical 61 upgrade modifications from the open to the closed port XP style configurations. At minimum, both Gilardoni and Mahle top ends were used and I believe KS may have also been in the mix. Coincidentally, there are both closed and open port 48mm Mahle versions on ebay right now.

My bad on the Gilardoni's. I'm sure you're right, there. There is so much mix and match with those saws that the possibilities are quite a few..., which gets back to your original point before I so rudely interrupted skinee440's roll on his 666 projects. Sorry, fellas.

OK, so it's gonna be a 66, either way, it's gonna be a 60's cc class saw, which is what I am looking to build. I'm not a "guru" on Husky's by no means. I build whatever is put in front of me, long as I got a book for reference. I like calling it a "666"! Lol

I'm not sure if this was the original cylinder but I pulled it off a 61.

I have a red boot 61 that has a 162 topend on it. If someone had been in it they put everything back as factory. Have talked to several other guys who have had the same thing.
