Echo told us 5 years ago that they have the tech on the shelf ready when they need it, but they are extremely gunshy at this point. I expect we will see it sometime, but they've made out without it for this long, so maybe they will stick to their share of the market--people who are willing to tote around some extra weight for the trade-off of being able to fix their own stuff.
They will do it when they have to. Saws are a small part of their business so it's likely they won't have to for some time given the emmisions credit scheme. Their niche is high quality, simple, older technology saws at a cheap price.

With older tech 2-strokes, this was largely the case, at least in relation to horsepower output. A longer stroke meant you could get larger ports for x# degrees of crank rotation, allowing for better airflow. With strato it seems like we've gone full circle and are heading for the Japanese motorcycle engines of the 50's--20,000 rpm's but a power band so narrow they needed 14 gears.
Curious why you would say that in regards to strato engines. Strato charged engines produce more torque than their traditional ported cousins due to better cylinder scavenging.
Also wouldn't a wider bore provide for more port area?

A prime example of battery technology not being developed well enough for the 50cc class.
Aesthetically ugly as hell.
You can't expect these saw companies to do the heavy lifting in term of R&D for battery development, they just use the current tech that the EV manufacturing uses. There's a wall that was hit for a few years now in terms of energy storage, so its impossible to recreate a 50cc or higher in terms of power with batteries without creating a boat anchor. That being said I like that husky uses a clutch in their latest electric saws (stihl, makita wake up pls), but I'm disgusted by the plasticky feel and lack of magnesium. The pro battery saws from stihl and husky cost a fortune and feel like a cheap chinese hunk of plastic 🤦‍♂️

I'm not against electric/battery OPE by any means but I'm not going to spend big bucks on blow molded plastic junk that's probably filled with Chinese parts and uses batteries that will not be supported in two weeks. My daughter's Power Wheels Barbie Jeep looks more rugged and respectable than most battery OPE.

Battery technology has not progressed far enough in the 50cc class, the fatness of the 550i battery pack is a superb example of where the technology is at today's date.
I can't imagine chopping spruce with that fat chicken.

Now, 564, hard to tell just from the pictures that are out, but it looks super sleek, the last time I bought a new chainsaw was back in 2012 when the 2253WH came to me, so 2025 will be a milestone year!

I think Husqvarna quite rightly are reading the room, with sales of ev cars tanking for example and no-one really wanting them (just like battery saws) they are concentrating on further redevelopment on ice saws.
Not to get all political but I think we are eventually going to get back to basics, away from all this fictional save the planet bu11sh1t.

I'll diverge with you a bit in regards to battery OPE. It serves a place for the people that rarely use they stuff and can't take care of a gas tool. And there are many like this.

well…i wouldnt go so far as to say fictional but i would say there are more important places to save emissions, like billionaires flying around in jets to avoid traffic lol. chainsaws and weed whips seem pretty insignificant in comparison.

Small lightweight battery saws have their segment.
If I was at a height and climbing, battery.
In the tractor cabin as a solution to clear away something that needs to be removed, battery.
To cut out something inside the house, battery.
But that's about where I see the point in a lightweight battery saw.

I have friends who work clearing trees under power lines, most of them have bought battery saws, and everyone I know has gone back to the ms 201 and 540 mk3. Price and total weight are the main reasons.

The freight ships carting boat loads of junk all over the world are the worst offenders, but I digress.

My stepdad is one of them. As little as he uses a chainsaw, battery is just fine. For anything big, he calls me!

How about this little goomer... @Tor R
Husqvarna has missed a bit in their promotion video, they advertise with no more choke, it looks to my trained eyes that they flip the button to choke placement, and it also looks like that when they demonstrate the air filter.

But autotune for the semi class is correct, and certainly exciting.
