No......I was just wondering if the 266, 268 & 272 handles would go on a 670 chassis.You got a 670 wrap?????
So some of these didn't have the heat shield?266 updates on my saw. Added a heat shield on the exhaust, added a bellows where the throttle arm goes through the chassis, cut out the knock out in the top cover just above the flywheel for the new fresh air inlet. Also some aluminum tape to help keep the cover from melting.

Just some things that keeps these old saw's a bit more current and productive. The air filter sure appreciates it.
Mods don't always have to be big bored and porting jobs.![]()
Neither of mine had oneSo some of these didn't have the heat shield?
This 670 that I rebuilt doesn't have one. I figured it was tossed aside because the muffler was dangling by one screw when it arrived.
My 266 didn't come with one, but now going to look for one.So some of these didn't have the heat shield?

I'm gonna ask the guy that I built this saw for if he wants to put one on. He's the ham fisted dull chain all the time type so I think it's probably a good idea.I buy one for a 272 and stick it in there. Can't remember if the last ones had a shield or not, makes sense though regardless.

The bill is getting steep so we'll see...
Absotootly....Doesn't take long for the dollars to add up to OMG. Heat management has been a focus for quite a while now, look at what was done to the newest designs to mitigate the effects of heat. So to my line of thinking when putting an older saw back to work I like to give it all the better chance I can.
