I hit one back in the summer. Tore my van all to hell.
Been there, done hat twice and hope that's the final tally. I hope you have no more encounters like the as well. My first was when I was 15 driving a,friend's BMW 2002 and the second was my brand new pretty 1995 Dodge V10 dually vs a big Mule deer. The deer to seem like expensive rigs with me. Not as bad as a friend who two years ago, bought a new Duramax Chevy and shortly there after had to either skid on top of, or drive over a bear. He chose the drive over it route.

Dang. Yep seeing alot of blood on the highway to and from work.

I got lucky. About 6am 70mph. Seen them coming from left to right out of 4 lane highway median. Quick glance through mirror nobody to left of me and I was in far right lane. I went left and turned right at them. Thinking I could use them running right and me going left to off set the hit.
Big doe went right across front and was figuring impact. Nothing. Yearling following caught the left rear inner wheel well and took a smack. Hair was jammed all in the oem mud flap and wheel well.

I felt like I had won the lottery with that near front hit, as it was my plow truck and sure would have hated to replace that boss mounts etc.

I like to think God had a hand in it. As I sure the heck couldnt afford to replace it right now. Carry only liability on truck.

Want to call the bow shop to see if i can still get a new set of these for bow. Just not sure the name.
The part that attaches the limb to the riser, is the hanger.

Played battleship against the wife at 3 yards with our carry pistols. Shot the AR at 100 getting it close to lined up. It's still high but I think it will be good to 300 with no holdover.

I'm starting to narrow down my choices...

Here's a pic of some of mine.
The top left is a series 70 Gold Cup. It's the best shooting of the bunch.
I like the Kimbers but they're overpriced, at least new, for what they are. They can also be picky on ammo.
The Ruger is a good shooter, after you clean up the trigger.
The Taurus is my beater. It's fine for minute of Torso accuracy and is dead nuts reliable. It's generally stuffed between the seat and console, in my truck.
The little Para Ordinance P12 in the middle is a lot of whoop-ass in a little package.
The only one I bought new, is the Ruger.
I've got a couple of friends with Springfield 1911's. They like them a lot.
Good luck with whatever direction you decide to go.

I had a friend who hit a deer, on a motorcycle. It didn't end well, for either.

I know nothing on the PX 4 storm. Or the FNS 9 but I'm interested in the FN. XD's seem a bit busy to me, particularly compared to Glock. I like Sig handguns greatly but have yet to even see their 320 striker fired gun

I am not a Berreta fan at all... A buddy seems to feel the need to buy every model that they make. None of them feel right to me.

To me, XD's dont point for chit. Ive tried to like them but I just can't.

A FNS is a solid gun, from what I've seen they are very reliable and to me they point and shoot amazingly well. The only reason I dont have one is holster availability and last I checked mags were fairly pricy.

I do like the gen 4 Glock. They don't have that square grip feel of the older ones.

I ended up grinding the finger groves off my Glock's and undercut the trigger guard. I actually like the grip feel of them much better now.

I'm starting to narrow down my choices...

Thanks for the feedback, I not ruling out any kind of competition in the future, but for now I just want a really nice shooting 1911.

If you are going to plan on carrying one the first thing I'd do would be ditch the adjustable sights.

The xds is small and compact. Shoots low and I know it. Great gun for 15' or less. I want to get an FN now that more holsters are available or I'll just get a Glock 23 or 19.

If it was gun season reaper would be dead today IMO. But being bow season was about 40yds from taking a shot.
Almost had him on a string using can bleat, but turned back. Close but no dice.
