Good morning!
In case anyone might have an interest Cannon Range which is south of Fort Leonard Wood is having a training exercise open to the public on August 4th. They will have A-10's as well as other aircraft performing bombing and strafing passes.

Good morning midwestern fellas.

Looking to be tolerable temps here for the next week as maybe getting to just about the 90's. I need to keep in mind that it's not August quite yet, which is when we usually see periods of triple (or very near) digits temps with 70%-85% humidity for a couple of weeks in a row.

And just in case Randy pipes in 7734 no I'm not moving.

On the charity cut forecast..

Pastor Bub called me yesterday about a potential youth missions fund raising opportunity..

A local pecan grove needs their grove thinned by about 500 trees. Bub is going to assist the fella with that, but asked me if the trunks would make good firewood.
“Trees are in the 12 to 14” range.” So not huge.

Anything worth milling? I've never cut any pecan.

I don't know yet..
He and I will go lay eyes on them this weekend and get some measurements.

500 trees sounds like a lot, but if the trunks are 12" diameter and only 10' long, a couple splitters with 4 way wedges could chew through that in a day, no problem..

Right Thomas???

I hope ya save a bunch of chunks of that pecan heartwood for some grilling smoke. For us pecan with a small amount of cherry thrown in can't be beat for those long low temp cooks.

I always have some on hand.. But my stash is full..
If there are any trees worth milling, I'll set them aside.

Unfortunately, pecan in log form, will not weather well.. It will rot where it sits if it don't get split up and put up..
