Hi all,

I think this may be my first post here, but it is definitely my first thread started here.
I have learned a lot while I have been lurking around here, but I have not seen this issue raised previously.

I know that I saw somewhere, [maybe on YT] that someone makes a conversion interface to use to pair new Lithium batteries with older NiCad-based power tools.

A long time ago [perhaps that part was too obvious to need saying], SWMBO bought me exactly what I needed [at the time]- a combo-kit with a 12-V cordless DeWalt drill and 5 3/8" saw, and for years, I used the be-hey-seus out of them, until the batteries would no longer hold any charge, and I even burned through some knock-off replacement batteries, and the tools just kept working.

Since they are/were such well-made and robust tools [and I miss using that little, but powerful saw] and despite now having a stable of Hitachi/Metabo cordless tools, I'm still hoping to find a way to start using my old favorites again.

So, long story [not really] short, has anyone used, or have an adapter that enables them to use one of these new-fangled Lithium-ion batteries on older NiCad powered tools?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe change your font color so we can read it.

An maybe remove your semi political link from your post.

What the fudge cookie

Long post that was in purple font that I couldn't read on my dark theme setting.

And a few links to donate to Ukraine. Probably just a phishing link to his own bank account.

Hi Mr. G,

Nope, no phishing, although there WAS a single [obviously legitimate] link to support Ukraine, which I did not and do not think was in any way even semi-political, but TBH, I had forgotten that I had put it in my signature when I created my account.

But I thought his reply was petty BS- so I decided it wasn't worth responding to or even leaving the message in place.

However, you asked a legitimate question and posted a picture that does actually show fishing, so you got the response and my explanation.

Best regards,

PA

Hey there glad you took the plunge and made a thread. Looks like you got the font thing figured out. You might want to check out the terms and rules link at the bottom of every page on this forum. It’s a set of rules that everyone agreed to adhere to when they signed up. The Ukraine link falls under the no politics policy. Thanks in advance for your understanding.IMG_4900.jpeg

Why are you still posting in an off color font?

My reply was not BS. This forum takes a strong stance against political agenda and religion.

Hi Mr. W.P.,

Thanks for the polite explanation in your reply. [...And also for the edit.]

I apologize and honestly didn't think/know it would be considered political.

Nonetheless, it will never occur again, and I do really appreciate your kind response.

Best regards,
PA

There’s no need for the Ukraine stuff here on an Outdoor Power Equipment forum and wars have been highly political since the middle of the last century. Again I’d recommend reading the rules of the road here.

That’s weird are you sure the problem isn’t on your end? His font looks the same here on my phone.

I have no idea? His post are the only ones that show up goofy colors.

To answer your original question I found an adapter to convert makita l-ion batteries to run on ryobi tools on eBay. Maybe give that a shot. IIRC I found the adapter with a quick internet search.
