Been thinking about getting a smoker and try my hand at it. Any suggestions on type of smoker?
I found a charcoal one at Lowe’s in my price range.

Anybody get any weather last night? Bit of rain here was it. Every phone in the house went off last night and I am a light sleeper.

I get those when it’s for the county to the west & for the county north of us, never for the county I live in…

No storm warnings here just a lot of wind some small hail & another 1.23” of rain.

I thought @67L36Driver was going to get hit pretty hard but by the time that storm got to his neighborhood they had dropped all the warnings & the light purple/white had just turned to red.

Just buy something cheap for your first smoker. Play with it. See if you like the process. Find out if you have a talent for it. You will have a much better idea what you want to spend your money on after you put in some time.

You can smoke with a Weber bubble/dome type grill, it would be a cheap way to get into it.

I can get this at Lowe’s for $100.
Yep, I was figuring to get as less expensive as possible in case I’m no good at smoking. I like grilling with charcoal when I’m not in a hurry. Propane when I’m in a hurry. But I know smoking is an all day affair so I’m thinking charcoal.

I ended up back to the offset firebox smoker.

When it gives up the ghost, I got my eye on an Oklahoma joe that’s 2 times the size of mine..
it has more bells and whistles.. but still powered by wood in an offset box.

had some pretty severe weather just south of me here this morning. probable tornado in Sikeston. several trees down and roofs removed. so far all of us have no damage and are ok. we got a ton of rain though.

Turned into a nice day. Low breeze and near 70f for a bunch of hours. Changed the lift to be on the other side of the dock. Now a bit of slackin' to get caught up with.
