It takes a certain amount of insanity to go out on a cold windy day.
I'm not a good story teller, so here's some pictures.

Leupold vx3-i LRP 8.5-25x50 ffp matte.
$900
They are dandy scopes. The 257 Roberts I got had one of these on it, basically my son & I figured i got gun at at no cost & a healthy discount on the scope.
They are nice scopes.
Yes sir, Ackley improved heavy barrel. It must be a custom build, there were no markings other than Ackley 257 on it it.They are dandy scopes.
So you did get the 257 then?
$625 was a steal with that scope on there.Yes sir, Ackley improved heavy barrel. It must be a custom build, there were no markings other than Ackley 257 on it it.
The barrel is only 18” so the improved part is moot. All the reading I have done says you need to 24” barrel to get the gains, so it will just get fed factory ammo.
Bottom one is a
Browning X-bolt 7mm Rem Mag with rings,
new never fired.
$625 each

Good deal
That‘s what my son said, he thought maybe I got the deal of the auction.$625 was a steal with that scope on there.
My uncle Jim swept and straightened up Ackley's shop for awhile. Factory ammo may show you a different case shape if it's an improved chamber. The case is less tapered and the shoulder is 40° IIRC. Provides the "most efficient case capacity for bullet diameter" from Ackley's books on loading for innumerable cartridgesYes sir, Ackley improved heavy barrel. My son is going to get the reloading accessories, he has already done the reading & research on it. Thats in his wheelhouse not mine.My uncle Jim swept and straightened up Ackley's shop for awhile. If the case comes out looking like my description after firing, it is a "257 Robert's improved" for which reloading dies are made or a neck sizer only since only one rifle will be fed these loads
Glad your auction time was well spent. That‘s what my son said, he thought maybe I got the deal of the auction.
They were still selling handguns when we left, then the had 3 tables of scopes & a ridiculous amount of ammo to sell. Your post on scopes helped me make my mind up leave. 6 hrs of standing around elbow-elbow with 200 other folks was getting old.
Yes Sir!Happy Monday!
Now get to work Slacker’s
