So I got out and cut a bunch of honey locust today. Put 3 tanks on the 500i, which brings the total to 4 tanks through it. As far as the Stihl's I have, 461's, 660's and the 500i, that 500i is fixin to make those 660's obsolete in my stable. I'm pretty impressed with it so far. All I've done with it is bucking firewood, but I had a 32 inch bar, full comp Stihl chain buried in a trunk and it did great.

The 500’s are good runners...

And light. I'm 6'5 and 275 lbs, so I'm not overly concerned about weight of saws, since I'm not carrying them through forests on mountains, but it's noticeable how light it is with a 32" bar. I like it.
@$1519 retail + the porting job I'd like after a bit. Being 4 weeks from B'day 71 wood'nt be effective fund use.
The ported 661 mills so nice.

Mine was $1717, out the door with tax. It was definitely spendy. I doubt I'll port this one. It was pricey enough as is. Then again, who knows.

I just talked to Kevin about him doing me a ported 661. They seem pretty mean ported. I told him I think the 394 he did for me, ruined me, because all my saws seem kinda blah after running that 394. Lol

When the 661 came to me it was ported, the inside of muffler was clean. Had not been run much. When it 1st was running it wasn't much better than the ms460 with muffler mod and max Flo air cleaner.
Once the 661 had enough tanks run thru it showed a lot more character. lol white oak sees the 661 when 42" b &c is needed for milling. Any longer bar has it powering the loop spinning. Easier milling the 460 or 046 carries the 42" or shorter bar

I’ve done the Olympic ‘hammer slam’ with a McCulloch Mac Cat.

The starter chit the bed four times and I had hit my limit. [emoji35]

Splotchs of bar oil and plastic littered the driveway.

I did feel better tho. [emoji57]
I need video of you, Steve, and Steve twisting off on a chainsaw. Just the thought makes me smile; actually video....I might lose a lung laughing so hard.

Thinking about a 592xp with porting. Tree guys love the 500i. They are now using more 32 inch chains than 20 inch chains.

I love my 562 &572. Seems like I read that they changed the design of the 592 to a different port set up though. Curious how it runs real world. If that is the case with would be like a 395 vs a 390.
