Cutter looks normal. Need to hurry out side before it gets dark.

One thing I thought was odd with the chain. It would surge. It want to pull the saw tward log then not as much then pulled again. Cutting fresh Ash. With ported 562xp.20 inch bar. Holding the saw back so the bucking spike stayed out of the wood.

Was it simply minor variations in the saw tuning itself, or was it actually the chain gaining and losing bite?

My iMac dates from 2009, stihl functions flawlessly. MacBook Pro from 2011, just put a solid state drive in it the other day, speeded it way up for $150. I plan to get a few more years out of it. iPhone, on my third one since they came out about what, ten years ago? My wife and stepdaughter have had multiple malfunctions with their non-iPhones, but not I. My stepdaughter's HP laptop we got her three years ago shot craps as soon as it went 0ff warranty. My second iPhone lasted six years, until I went swimming with it when we were visiting my sister in California a couple years ago. That was inconvenient.

Stihl, Apple, Subaru, Tikka, Smith & Wesson.
Which Tikka Model are you running? I'm thinking about either a New T-3 Forrest or Stainless hunter, or a Savage Hunter Stainless.

The shops like this kind of stuff because the techs can make a lot by flat rate doing these repairs in their sleep. A lot of these GM engines are built in china and were probably designed there as well. Three weeks ago there were 6 GM motors in the shop because the PCV system froze up in the extended cold. Blew out the rear main seals and all the oil from the pressure. Whole lot of field testing went into that design I'll bet!
Which model engine?

I think it had to do with clearing the chips. The chain would fill with chips and not pull as hard. Then once the chips were cleaned out the chain would pull the saw into the wood harder. It was about a 3 second cycle of self feeding and not feeding as hard.

I would say skip chain would be recommended with the EXL. Self feeds very well. Sucks it self into the wood.

Has a strong kick back when cutting from bottom up. Will try on some oak later today. This was with fresh Ash.

I know one of them was in a Terrain, because the owner came over to the Toyota shop and bought a Highlander. The others I'm not sure of, only that the Service Manager at the GM shop told me about how busy their shop was in the cold weather. I work part time in a Toyota dealership that is part of a campus that has 5 brands and a used car shop. 450 cars on the lot for sale.

It's a T-3 lightweight model, blued, synthetic stock, in .270. Zeiss Conquest 3-9x glass. I like that it's so light, hardly kicks, cycles smoothly, great trigger, and very accurate. Had it several years. I really like it. I made my own lightweight strap out of a piece of purple 1" wide rock climbing webbing, which allows me to find the "Barney rifle" when I lean it against a tree. LOL

I got a stainless dealer sample in .308 with a laminated stock for a friend once. It was a great deal, but teh stock made it too heavy for me to want to lug around all day.
