Good morning, gentlemen.
The Primate made up for the previous night's 12 hour sleepathon, fussing and whatnot starting at three, so I'll be going on four hours today. Oh well such is the deal.
I found bolts, washers, and brass shim stock to replace the pivot pin and tighten it up and tighten the top cylinder attachment point for the splitter. I'm worried about it hogging out the mild steel on the pivot point, and not being a welder, I'd be SOL if it did. That happened in short order on a cheap tilt bed trailer I had once. I finally bolted it shut and made a ramp on that one. I'll make it tight and spray it with Boeing T-9 wax lube, in hopes the vibration doesn't shear my shims. I think there is some vibration in the pump, but they definitely made the pivot point too loose. Oh well what can you expect, I got a 6.5 Kohler, a 4" cylinder, a full length beam, they have to cut corners somewhere. I could have spent twice as much on an Iron & Oak splitter, which would defeat the point of trying to save on my gas bill burning wood!
Have a good day, be safe. I got Nancy's car all scraped off, just waiting for teh rest of the crew to arise.
