With a flat back couldn't you mill out a pocket of the shape with the protrusions and pour a castable rubber?
Yes you could, you might also be able to use spring wire or the right size braising rod to do the same job as the rubber bumps. With a flat back couldn't you mill out a pocket of the shape with the protrusions and pour a castable rubber?
Thanks Guy's, who is op?
Ok.He was Andy Griffith's kid that shot that bird with his bb gun and Andy forced him to confess.
"Man BA" you sure are showing our age, I remember OP and Frank Zappa well.He was Andy Griffith's kid that shot that bird with his bb gun and Andy forced him to confess.
I think one could make a band for any chainsaw that needs it, I'm sure most here could make one, just need a little skill.I wander if Jeff's band making would work on some ones 2100? Seems like most of them need one!
Good find, looks like it will fit a 61 as well.FWIW, 266 bands are now available. I imagine they are AM: http://www.ebay.com/itm/201469714902?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The only way I could see the material I used could have detrimental effects would be if the brake band was constantly rubbing on the clutch drum, I made sure it did not rub. That would be the case with any saw that has a brake band system though. So using titanium, I thought it would last much longer and handle the heat better, but one can use any material they desire or have at their disposal, not saying everyone should use titanium. Just showing and proving that a person can build/repair something if they put their mind to it, or develop/have a skill set to do so, that is the point of this exercise. We live and have become a wasteful throw away society, spending money needlessly. When if we just use our head a little we would be much better off. Thanks for your input.Great job, but titanium isn't the ideal material for a brake band IMO.
