@Canadian farm boy what are you using for plug wires on your car? I'm leaning towards a set of Taylor spiro-pro. They specifically say for engines with headers and their boot design looks like it will give me the best clearance.
That's without spending over $300 on a set of Granatelli wires..
I believe I used a set of 10” 8.8mm Taylor wires and added the thermal sleeves for a little more header protection.IMG_5520.png

The fuel lines are so rusted around it we didn’t think it was worth the risk to remove it and quite possibly end up needing new fuel lines which are a pain to replace on these.

Prolly gonna wanna do that

Got my humvee back up and running today, glow plug controller decided to fail and lock the plugs on full time. Here is a picture of the Protective control box.

I removed the green wire from the broad which is for the glow plugs and added a second solenoid like the one in the picture to run the glow plugs off off, wired that to the wait light and a push button switch. All manual now so no more worries.

Damn, that sucks. I truly know how you feel. Don't let this experience stop you. Look for another and when the time is right the right truck will find you.
Well, that turned out to be true. Found a new truck and bought it. F250 with a 6.2L.

Same GVWR as the F350 that burned. Quite happy with it.

Had to replace an intake valve spring on number 8, but that went well and the truck is running nicely. Got a lot of little things I've been working on to bring it up to my liking, but so far it's been a lot of fun.

Plug wires, radiator and Holley ECU all ordered and should be here this week...

I dug around and found the Aeromotive phantom fuel pump I ordered probably 10 years ago..

It appears I now need to do some learning on something I never really messed with, AN fittings and braided lines.
I'm still undecided if I go with a stand alone regulator and filter or go with the Corvette style filter/regulator.

Corvette regulator works fine on my cj I used my hydraulic flaring tool to make quick connect fittings to go into the regulator then used a modified wood clamp to push fittings into plastic line . Came out good and most of it was left over from work jobs

If you’re not running any power adders like a SC or turbo you’d be fine with the corvette filter and regulator and AN6 lines and fittings. On a side note with the corvette filter, get an actual Delco or Wix. I tried 2 cheap ones and they both were way off. Fuel pressure would fluctuate from 5lbs low to almost 15lbs high. I put a real delco filter on and it works good. Still slightly high but it’s stable.

Summit order showed up today.
Jegs order should show up tomorrow.
Got the water pump on, headers tightened up and plug wires on.
I did give the #1 header tube another heat and hit with the ball peen. I'm now liking the clearance to the #3, plug I can remove the plug now too..20241001_190149.jpg20241001_190158.jpg20241001_190207.jpg

Once I get the radiator I'll start fitting hoses.. or finding hoses that fit.

I've had my 1998 Ford Ranger for 20 years, since 2004. So much of my life has happened with this truck by my side! Career changes, new homes, getting married, becoming a dad, the deaths of three of my grandparents, you get the picture! That cheaply made Fix Or Repair Daily product has been the best vehicle I've ever owned, and I'm a Toyota/Honda guy.

But, nothing lasts forever. I need a more capable truck and Dad gave me a sweet deal on his 2012 Dodge 1500 Outdoorsman. I put out feelers among friends that I would consider selling her to someone that would appreciate her. A friend of a friend who got burned badly by a used car lot stepped up and quickly agreed to asking price. He paid cash and we did the transfer at the county clerk's office, the clerk remarking she hasn't seen a title as old as mine for quite awhile.

I just watched him drive away in my truck that is now his property. Yeah, it hurts more than a little bit.

It appears the fan shroud is going to be drop shipped.. I'll have to call Jeg's on Monday to see what that means as far as time..
But, radiator looks like it will bolt up with minimal effort.
