Biggest downfall to the E4OD is the converter. Get a nice stock stall billet converter and a good transmission cooler to keep the heat down. And if you haven't already learned you have spent more of your life patching a transmission than what it would have cost to have it fully rebuilt the first time you pulled it out. Also, you shouldn't need to drill any extra holes in the flex plate. Get the right one. I daily drive an 1988 Ford that has been completely rebuilt from about 12 different trucks.

And I mean completely rebuilt!

Thanks for the knowledge advice. We drilled an extra hole because we couldn’t get the right one. We tried several times with the help of the internet, our neighbor, and several auto parts stores.

Had to cut way more than anticipated...

I was able to just fold down and flatten out the radiused portion.

Engine now sits down properly on the mounts.

And the bellhousing almost clears the tunnel that has taken a beating from me trying to fit this thing...

Once I get everything clearance, I'll pull the engine for hopefully the last time, box in the cuts in the frame and paint that area.

Awesome Ed. An old alignment guy might know how to tweak the steering for more clearance.

Had to pull the right front brake line out as it will need to be routed different.
No biggie, as it wasn't finished anyway.
Looks like the #2 cylinder tube will need to be dimpled for the passenger side and the #1 and possibly #5 for the drivers.

I was expecting that. The only headers that fit this swap are shorties. I've read even the $1800 Doug's headers will need the ball peen.

@redline4 what trans are you running?
I’m running a 700r4 with the eBay headers and I had to trim the trans bell housing on the passenger side for clearance

4l60.
I already ground off the rib on the bellhousing around the starter.

I'm close. Just need to flatten part of #4 and I think the right side is there..
