It looks like your brother was having a great time until he didn't.
Yep, a few pins, some stitches, and a bunch of cuts and bruises from the scrub oak that caught him has really taken the wind outta his sails.
Looks Kawi not Yami ????
Yep, I got confused. Mine's a Yamaha, his is an 04 Kawaskai KX250F.

I'm on a project-tackling kick and have started getting my 24v in good order so it'll be ready to drop on Yella this fall, so far I've put on a new p/s pump off a 12v (no hydroboost port), a reman alternator, reman starter's on the way, and slapped on a new exhaust manifold since the old one was cracked. In the process I noticed the exhaust ports were kinda covered in carbon like when a 2-stroke is too rich. I don't recall my previous 24v with 300k miles having the sorta buildup this guy does at 180-200k, is this normal? Also, I know it sat for 10-ish years but maybe 1.5 gallons came outta it and the motors take 2.5 gallons, in addition to which the oil filter was bone dry. Maybe when the donor truck rolled it ran on oil for a bit?

I hope your brother gets healed up and back in the saddle soon enough.

When I was a kid, my dad borrowed the neighbor's new Husqvarna 490. Needless to say, those are death traps.

He took off on the front field of our back 40 and about twenty seconds later, I see him in the distance go ass-over-tea-kettle in a big cloud of dust.

We went running toward him and a few minutes later he was walking towards us, pushing the bike. The bike had a bent handlebar and forks, he had dirt and weeds on his face and in his hair and rash down his left side. He said he hit an eight-foot deep hole at about 50mph. He couldn't see
it because of the weeds. That was the last dirt bike ride the old man ever took.

Got my tall/narrow mounts.

The tabs won't spread enough to fit the short/wide frame brackets.

If I get the tall/narrow frame brackets I'll see no gain as they are the same overall height when assembled..
I'm thinking I could cut a slot where I'm indicating
20240718_063715.jpgpinch the bracket and weld it back together.
But, then I'm stuck using the tall mounts for sure... unless I shim the wide mounts.
As of now, I'm leaning towards ordering a knock off Holley 302-2 oil pan at $140 vs $500 for the Holley. That with the short/wide mounts and maybe a small shim should get me clearance and still give my bellhousing room and not tip the engine back.
It seems the 66-67 GM A bodies are not as easy of a swap as the 69-72 frames.

First off, I'm dumb as a box of rocks with transplants of efi engines. All carbed in my day.
Did they ever put that engine in a lower profile engine bay that you could rob parts from? Maybe a Z28?

Are you talking factory parts?
If so, the pan I have is the lowest profile factory pan made for the LS.
I can make it work but I also have to factor in room for the trans and the angle of the power train in the chassis. If I get the engine too high to clear the steering and frame the trans will either hit the tunnel or I will have to tip the entire thing way back which creates driveline angle problems plus will point my headers at the ground.
The Holley pan is very shallow at the front plus has no cast in bosses like the GM pan.

You probably already know this but the 98-02 F body LS1 oil pan is what the Holley pan is based off. I had to use one for my swap.
You’ll also want the oil pick up tube and you’ll likely have to modify the splash plate for clearance

Forgot that.
I have the GM muscle car pan which is the Hummer H3 oil pan.
I can make it work, but I think it will sit the engine too high and not make nice with transmission clearance.

This boss for the trans cooler line bracket is definitely in the way..

I read where this pan was used on a 67.
They must have better skillz than me to make it fit.

The pan @Canadian farm boy is talking about is much shallower in the front as well.

Speedway has a steel pan and radiator kit I'm eyeballing as I need a radiator too...

I don’t have any real good pics of the oil pan I used. These are about all I could findIMG_2799.jpegIMG_2788.jpeg

Man, shoving a 440 into a '34 Dodge was easier to figure out.
