Damn!! 2.73 is way to high for an od transmission! That's a 1:1 drive ratio.

My 5speed OD 3.55 loves 65 mph and does just fine at 70mph with the AC on!! I average 14-15 on my daily commute. Best I got was 20.3mph staying at a constant 55-60mph the entire tank.

On a different note, the Ford F350 460 build isn't going to happen. I picked up the truck and drove 13 miles and it was driving great! My son was following me and I was checking with him and he said smelled something.

I pulled over and got out to look around the truck. We both saw wisps of smoke coming from the back somewhere, but couldn't find the source. We walked up front and saw smoke rising up from the back of the hood.

I didn't open the hood (I've seen too many videos of what happens when you do), but I called 911 immediately. Fire department took 12 minutes from the time I called until they showed up.

By the time the FD got there, cab and engine bay were fully enveloped in flames. Unreal how fast it moved. I'm very fortunate to have stopped to check because the fire sure moved fast.

I'll post the pictures shortly.

I'm really bummed out by this turn of events. I had big hopes for this build. The truck reminded me of my Dad's old truck (He had an 82) and it was a nice trip down memory lane for that 13 miles.

Damn, that sucks. I truly know how you feel. Don't let this experience stop you. Look for another and when the time is right the right truck will find you.

I pulled the top end on my Yamaha to get it bored out and took apart the front of my brother's Yamaha to asses the damage. He'll be down and out for awhile, but it's looking like $250 will get the bike fixed so I can sell it for him.
Hope he isn't injured to badly, and that he will still want to continue his riding once healed !

It looks like your brother was having a great time until he didn't.

Thats the one I sent you a pic of. It's not the second cam in that truck, it's the second cam I have replaced in 2 different trucks in 2 weeks. Guess I was clear as mud on that!
Ed - you seem really talented at this kind of work. You might think about getting a job in the field of automotive mechanics. ;)
