So close, but so far away...

Had the engine in and out another 6 times. Removed a spacer, moved the mount again. Just can't quite clear the top of the trans while getting the flexplate into the bellhousing.
I think if I had rubber mounts vs the Energy Suspension urethane mounts it would tip back a bit more and maybe work.
Going to have to do some massaging to the tunnel.
Once that's remedied, I'll order the trans overhaul stuff and headers.
Just clearance the tunnel a bit.
It's kinda like doing a fender roll after a rear end mod with some tires with a bit more of a footprint.

I wish I had the pictures of a local Yugo (Welle auto employees car) that had sportsman's and a 9" tucked in the back, and the added wheelie bar hanging close to 5 ft. beyond the azz end.

Any chance you can lower the back of the engine down another 1/2”? It would give you move clearance around your steering components at the oil pan and it would give you the room you need for the bell housing. Probably have to modify the trans crossmember to do it. Just me thinking out loud

I'd have to notch the powder coated frame..

Looking good Ed! By message do you mean smack the chit out of it with a hammer?
Actually smack the shît out of a block of wood against the tunnel.

Slight side note.
Over the past week I sent a number of email inquiries to a bunch of transmission component companies regarding my 4L60. Almost ever site has a kit listed up to 2006 model year.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no difference between a 2006 and the 2007 I have, but still wanted to hear from them.
I sent my last inquiry yesterday evening to Suncoast.
They were the only company to reply and did it in less than 24 hours. Not to mention, I received an actual phone call from them and spoke to them for about 20 minutes regarding my project.
Suncoast will be getting my order for my transmission components...

I worked at a wrecking yard in high school and that was my favorite part of the job - Seeing what kind of odd creations guys had done in their garages. That and "automotive archeology". It's pretty amazing what people leave behind in their vehicles.

In high school my buddy and I would go through glove boxes in salvage yards to search for mixed tapes! On the way home we would listed to the cassettes and usually laugh at the stuff people actually thought was worth recording. Of course, now that activity is extinct.

After lots of swearing, lifting the engine in and out, lifting the trans in and out, I came to the conclusion the adapters, mounts and such just won't be happy in this 67.

It's my understanding that the 66, 67's offer plenty of frustrations on the LS swap other years do not.
That being said, I've read multiple instances where the Hooker Blackheart LS swap kit works perfectly.
So....
I just dropped the cash on their adapter plates, clamshell engine mounts, urethane inserts, trans mount and trans crossmember.....

If it works I guess I'll try to sell the adapter plates and various mounts I currently have sitting here.

I guess a 427/454/502 swap looks like it would have been much less challenging.
I'm not "up" on these newer engines, but I probably would've been in there with a hammer and torch. :D
