That looks expensive!
4 of them I have had forever. Hopefully they still hold up. I got them from willyswanter’s (Google) estate after he died up there around you. Sad story. I Had them on my blazer. DCB6D186-8D8A-48F5-901B-61B258E94620.jpeg

The other 3 I just got, yeah, twofiddy each.

I'm starting to fear crawling under my truck, every time I'm under there I find new stuff to fix! After I broke a hub "core" with a set of Channellocks and learned that you don't try to force 50 year old plastic when your front end locks up ($105 mistake) I decided to replace the leaky pinion seal and change the diff oil while I was poking at the front end. Once I got under there I discovered what may be the cause of my mysterious water leak, a few more oil leaks, and a hick fix. At least two if not more freeze plugs are leaking so I'm hoping that's the only reason the truck loses coolant.

Replacing the freeze plugs in my truck turned in to a new fuel pump, new fuel filter, carb kit, and no freeze plugs installed yet. In order to get to the freeze plugs, I need to drop the entire exhaust. Since I'm doing that, I should swap out the throwout bearing. If I pull the exhaust the headers have to come off so I'll have to pull the heads as well to remove all the header bolts that break off. If I pull the engine to pull the heads, I'll reseal the engine and do a power steering swap, etc, etc, etc. I wanna drive the truck a bit more before I go down that rabbit hole, so I'll just carry a jug of water with me for now. I did install the front lift blocks so the truck is a little less canted, which I'm happy about.

So your going to build the original? 7.5?
That’s the plan. I figure on the street with radials it should be fine. When I’m done it should be good for about 500hp. (Fingers crossed).
I was originally thinking about a S60 or 8.8 conversion but that’s outside of my budget these days

Ya with street radials you should be fine! You. Would have to hook pretty hard to be an issue! Have the s60 myself, and It’s honestly overkill, had an 8.5 before without issue, but my dad needed an axle for his 56 bel air so I bit the bullet. The possi is amazing in the s60 but it kinda stupid money

All day, and then some !
I’m not the one who took everything apart, but that really doesn’t mean diddley-spit ! Brake booster needs to be in there BEFORE the steering column so the quadrant can get bolted in, then the booster comes out so the column can get bolted in.

Hydraulic clutch changes things !

I know it now, but don’t really give a hoot, I’m not a ford guy

Hurst shifter on wide ratio top loader. BFG 295-50-15 white letters on 9 inch rims should set this rear in a “means business” stance !!!
The used top loader has the reverse link tab welded, and they used the 1-2 tab instead of the reverse tab. Believe it or not these tabs are over $100 delivered for the three of them !!!

With the 27” rear tire, I ordered 3.0 Strange gears for the locking Eaton differential. The 2.78 first gear puts them two meaty rear tires at just over 50mph shifting into second at 6k, and running 2600rpm around 70mph in 4th.

Link tabs, gears, and installation kit is on their way !!!!

We have anyone that knows their way around a 4l80e?

Think I just shat second gear in the one I rebuilt this past fall. Think the intermediate sprag let loose. :nusenuse:

First gear is good then it revs high tries to engage 2nd, slips then shifts early into third, get up to speed and shifts to fouth fine. Tc engages and disengages as it should. Down shifts fine from fourth to third, third to second is like a double bump. Prob because second isn't there and it's dropping from third to first. Spent all day running a scanner and changing out shift solinoids, accumulators, springs and then finally the whole valve body. No change. No codes whatsoever the whole time.

Should weld some 1/4 plate footing so you can bolt it down to the concrete with anchor bolts, then ya can really reef and it wont be moving lol
Its getting heavy castors at each corner. Will be mounting fixture at each end with a bottle jack to raise table onto castors.

Want it mobile to be able to move under lift to drop out an engine or set a body onto.

16477823154248581230762011783623.jpg A 8-1\2 10 bolt setup right will take a lot of abuse..This is me on a 10:50 pass, the rear end was about 6 or 7 yrs old at this point...Eaton POSI and 390:1 Auburn gear, C clip eliminators\floating Moser axles and good ole Caltracs with mono leafs. It would do this from almost any old stop light. Oh and TH350 with a 3500 TCI super streetfighter..never saw a need for a TH400 or a transbrake..foot brake and SPRAY!

Steve, if you've got no second in that, figuring the intermediate sprag shat the bed is quite likely the culprit.
It's the only thing holding in second gear that's overrun or not used in other ranges.

If you have any more questions, shoot me a text.
