A "distant" relative needed these beech logs bucked to burn this winter.
Her son borrowed a saw, and lets just say failed at the task.
The big log was about 28" OD at the butt end.
This was how the job site awaited me.

I brought a small platoon of 3 saws along and bucked it all up in one AM, no help.

This was supposedly the first time she ordered firewood logs, apparently her kids talked her into it.
My best guess is her kids have no idea what it takes to process logs into firewood.

Luckily it is all beech, so once split it will dry and burn so-so.

Still liken my Quad 4300ST with pedestal base. Have only needed to replace the fiber blanket and baffle board once. Put in 2 new bricks this fall at the back b4 use this year. Not to bad for 12 years of use.

Only change I'd make to their accessories is to have a much higher volume fan.

Quad, is a toasting the nearby area fairly well.

More firewood cut up this morning. I mostly ran my XS 4350, XS 550xpg and my XS 572xpg for a few cuts. @redline4 came out to help, he ran his freshly ported XS 500i.

Like others, finished up the year, the best way I know how, bucking and splitting firewood.
First picture is from today. Next 2 are from the past couple days. The trailer of wood is for an older gentleman and his lady friend, because they like fires, while they watch their sports. The next one is my fourth pallet row of firewood. Left is new, right is from the same stuff as pics 1 and 3. Behind it is 21 cords of honey locust and black locust, cut, split and stacked. Last one is what the 2 trees last week yielded. Maybe a cord to cord and a half.

Forgot my phone, so these are after the fact. Split some honey locust and grabbed some shorts and chunky monkeys plus a tote out at Bunny's. With any luck and not get called in to work, I will get the HL moved and stacked in the backyard. Chunky monkeys will just stay up front and mixed in with other wood.

First off, Happy New Year to everyone! My son and I went out to cut some more firewood this morning. It's my last day out here. The brothers are off work the next 4 weeks, so they will finish the job in the next couple days. The field around tree island is chisel plowed and it hard to pick up the firewood with the skidsteer. There's only one flat area around the island, so everything is getting cut and loaded here. We got a sh*t load of wood from this job! I ran my scarr 550xpg and my son ran my XS 550xp and XS 572xpg for the bigger pieces.

2023 wasn't too bad for firewood. Ended last season with less than a tote worth of wood at the house, plus 2-cords + that was split back in 2016 that I've been saving for a rainy day. @JimBear got me started by donating a load of hedge, 2-cord. The raised area has 4 totes hedge, 1 tote white oak, 2 totes honey locust, 1 tote mulberry, plus 2 totes mixed, mulberry, oak, hackberry, etc. Totes next to the chain link fence misc. that I am burning this year.
Should have 3 or so totes worth of HL that still needs split plus a bunch of down oak, silver maple, hackberry, elm and a few others that need cut and split. Around half will end up in the sell totes to split with Bunny. Hoping 2024 can be as full of wood as 2023 has been.

Had some trees in the campground that we cut in summer. Decided to block them up for firewood instead of pushing them in the woods. I knew better 🤦‍♂️

Logs/rounds that size, totally worth it.

I dealt with this crap yesterday, old stable roofing littered with nails and other "iron contaminants".
Not mine, I would have enjoyed a big bonfire instead.

Two apple branches, they just got too high.
Makita UC250D with full chisel Stihl 3/8" Picco doing really good.
Three bars on second battery, will see whether it will hold up for the remainder of the cleanup.
Shop fireplace will eat this stuff no problem.
First wheelbarrow full.

Second battery depleted.
The bigger the branches the faster the battery drains.
Still good, cut down and up most of two big apple branches, or two wheelbarrows full of firewood.
I am truly glad I picked up this Makita UC250D, she is really handy for small to medium jobs.
