S'ok I hear that's how all the cool kids wear em these days... so thanks Echo. I guess...

Super surprised the cheap, brittle, sharp, junk, no good, ugly, flimsy echo plastiks didn't disintegrate in my hands!

Ran a couple tanks through at the gtg today. Swapped the carb, coil out as well. Seems to run a bit better with both.

Coil only had better throttle response and felt better in the cut.

Larger carb added a bit more in the cut without losing any throttle response or low end.

All had some trigger time on it today

Not quite the same league as ported 372, 044 hybrids or smurfy dolmar things... I think it has some potential to pick up a bit more.

Think I have a plan...

Going to drop the jug .020

Should get my transfers down around 117.
Think they are open too long. Cant build enough pressure to force the remaining exhaust gasses out, especially with the low bd.

Then take the ex up to 99, for 18* bd widen as much as possible. Exhaust flange doesn't allow much more than 63%

Intake should end up around 77-78 probably widen the intake a bit too. Believe the small carb would benefit from the added area.

Seems this saw is running on (mass flow) not really building any "pressure".

Throttle response is good, but not near as snappy as Some, power delivery is very linear.

If I can get the transfers lower they will build more pressure. I believe I can get enough intake area to stuff the case better. With enough exhaust area to clear the chamber out. With such a narrow exhaust outlet I can see higher than normal ex numbers still making plenty of tq..

Only one way to find out :) it's just a jug

I will be more than happy to come over and run it once ready [emoji16]

OK, that does it. I'm going to put a 28" bar on my my stock CS-670 and see if it can hold a candle to Red97's CS-730. Right now I have the 28" bar on my Stihl 046 Mag. That should prove interesting. Thing is, I don't have any soft poplar available -- only hard ash. So, to be fair, I may have to leave the 25" bar on there as is.

They run well once ported. Same jug just less stroke.

The 670's I have built will come up wanting against the 730.

Hopefully the 730 will get even stronger with some porting.

670's are a darn good firewood saw.

That was my goal while building this hybrid.

670 - 2lbs + 7cc + better av = cs730

What's not to like?

(Edit) that log is from the same tree, just a year younger.

My experience with Echo is that they may not be as fast as a hopped up Husq but they are dead reliable. Id rather have the most dependable saw, rather than the fastest.

I'll second that! Also the easiest starting.

I agree, not quite the rpm. Tend to just tractor along..

But who doesn't like a fast tractor?

Think most of that was the wood got faster lol.
