Joe this is excellent work as always and a dang good thread to boot Thank you for taking the time to do it it looks stout for sure and I can't wait to hear more about it when you get to put her in some big wood .

Thank you, hopefully we can find some sizeable ash today.

Let a friend run it today. He was getting on it pretty good. Chugged along a lot better than I was expecting. Had it tuned round 13.3k pulled down to 8800ish sweet spot seemed to be close to 11k.

Here is his 590 i ported, same log 24" bar and a better chain. Does well, but doesn't power through like the 730.

I believe dropping the jug a bit more will help wake this saw up. Get the transfers up to 118, and 18* blow down will work well. I think.

Joe, will you be able to bring this saw to Custers?

timed cuts is your friend. make 1 change at a time. I'd be working my way towards intake 80, transfers 120-122, ex 100-103, advance ign timing 2deg. at a time. test test test.

Thank you very much for the input.

Looks like a 044 piston, jug dropped and only the bottom ring I could hit those numbers.

Unless someone knows of a taller window piston than the 268xp. 50mm bore. 12mm pin. Or at least a thicker crown/ lower ring placement.

Doing some reserch..

The 620 unlimited coil does indeed have a steeper curve, and more ignition advance. Good bit more imo.
CS620 / shindiawa CS600SX
9* @ 3kBTDC
26* @8k BTDC
38* @10k BTDC
39* @12k BTDC

Seems like a good bit more advance than the 590-600p coil

The original saw the jug came from(cs670-80) had max ignition timing of 25*@10k
