Ok, you are going to open the hole I pointed out to .3mm this time around?

You had to adjust the low needle (turning), or enlarge the feed hole?

You gonna try closing the hole in the main jet?

When you say more "adjustability" are you referring to being able to lean it a bit more, or in the low/mid range.
Joe if it were me. I would close the hole in the main jet and turn the H out to 1.5 for a start. May be able to tune it but may run out of fuel when held on pin.

If so open the aluminum hole.

Yes, I'm.going to reduce the .4mm hole now to a .3mm and see what that does.

I just had to adjust the L needle and idle slightly. All I did was restrict the H bleed hole once to .40mm and was able to adjust out. The H & L must be tied togather somewhat because of needing to increase the L. It's kinda acting like the modded Zama C3M where you close the H bleed hole so it's not over rich at wot and you regain being able to tune the H.

I may try to close the main jet but not sure what that will accomplish....

Yes, I just want to be able to lean it a little more....to gain adjustability. As you know there's plenty of fuel if need be, now just trying to get it under contol.

Thank you sir. Don't want to leave you hanging, but I won't be back in the shop till Tuesday. Look forward to what you find.. So far sounds very promising.

My 620 carb my not be a paper weight much longer.

I think the best approach will be to limit the bypass fuel, as I think the stock 670 carb is almost at the limit for fuel flow...

Thank you for sharing your findings.

Joe picked the Echo's in the last year to modify and find gains knowing they were the "underdogs" and not particularly favored by guys running husky and stihl. I admire that.

Picking up the new CS501P later this week , I'll post some build pics and give some unbiased thoughts on it .
Nothing much if you google the 501P but if you use SX instead you'll get reports and pics from Europe and the UK where they have had it for a year or longer .

i got a echo srm 225 bought new in 2010 only needing trimmer string and gas and used for 6 yrs non stop with no repairs only needing to blow out the air filter i did replace the string head this year.

can't say that about any husqvarna trimmer needing fuel lines after two seasons primer bulbs three recoil assembly's in 2 years constant ignition switch breaking and a gearbox bearing failure.
there blowers are not any better either.

This x1000! @SawTroll if you haven't run a saw, then STFU and don't spout nonsense about it! Man somebody must have spiked your Husqvarna orange kool-aid with Viagra to generate such a huge Husky hard on! If it lasts more than 4 hours your supposed to go to the doctor to have it looked at. You should have done that years ago I'm afraid permanent damage might have already been done. To "echo" Shawn's statement this isn't a comparison thread.

Have you run a stock 590 et. al.? Have you run a ported one?

To any poor defenseless "future" readers that Nico has deluded with his comments, the plastics, fit, finish, "handling, " etc. of any Echo I've used has been on par with Husky, Stihl, and Dolmar. Husky has Echo beat in the sideways lean department though!:campeon:

Look at my sig and you will see I'm pretty unbiased when it comes to saws. I've run a metric *s-word ton of them over the course of the bether part of the last 30 years. Joe knows that when he has me run a saw he's going to get a fairly unbiased opinion. That's probably why he likes having me hang out and run his saws. It certainly isn't because of my sparkling personality!

I had the pleasure of hanging out with Joe yesterday and running his ported 590. What a fun saw to run! Great power band and, in my opinion, great all around saw.

I have a mmws ported cs600 p.

From what I have learned most of the newer echos are shindaiwa made. Just rebadged for echo. Did echo buy shin?

Both are owned by Yamabiko corp now. Not 100% sure when the merger happened, or who's design is who.
according to my echo/shinny dealer rep the 490,500,550,590,600,620 were designed by shindaiwa before the merger and were shelved for a few years.
