And the cad keeps worsening.

Anyone want dibs on the next one?

Ok I can appreciate Echos but you now need to check out the other tutonic designed 50cc saw - Dolmar 5100/5105. You can blame CAD or call it research into the "best" 50 cc.

Dolmar is a lil on the hefty side. 11.9 lbs vs 10.7

Im sure the 5105 is a great saw, but we gotta get these lil echos dialed in...
I like Dolmars alot, however the 5105 doesn't feel much lighter then the 6100.
I like alot of what echo offers and would really like to have a little saw. Can't wait to see how you all can make them little echoes run

Can one of you guys post up a picture of a 026/260 next to an Echo 490? I'm curious to the physical size difference. Weight to me is so subjective if that makes sense (where it balances, ergonomics, bar differences...,)

Couple days Ill get a shot next to a 261c and a 346.
Imo all 3 wearing 18" .325 echo feels the most nimble.

I will try to weigh later. The Stihl feels a bit heavier by the arm. Definitely could be wrong on that. Much less and better quality plastic on the Stihl.

Likely more modern vs. older design than brand. The Stihl feels like you could beat it with a BFH and it would still run fine.

The 024/6 is smaller.

The echo has that goofy bulge to the recoil cover. Makes it look really wide. Shoot they could shave off an inch or so eliminating the ez start.

I do like the fact it has no decomp to leak.

Exactly! I don't see any reason for any sub 50cc saw to have ez start anything on it. Just a bunch of gizmos and useless bling to catch John E. Homeowners attention with slick marketing. The decompression valve was my biggest gripe with the Stihl 241 I just sold. It was already starting to bleed a bit and the saw only had 10ish tanks through it. The guy I sold it to was all over it though.

That's cause it was a stihl. I'll have to grab the 241 when I get home, don't remember it being much smaller than the echo.

Well here goes. I'm guilty of not taking the time to tune in wood. Had 4 stroking, not as much as before. Feels faster, possibly less torquey than the smaller Venturi when the RPMs drop. Possibly.

Can anyone guess Max RPMs? It was the same with our without air filter.

Unfortunately, my fast tach doesn't lend well to being mounted to a saw. It did some weird stuff at max rpm.

After carb mods:

Wow it likes the extra breathing room in the carb. Sounds very good nice job
