4910 and 501 have different colored plug boots and kill switches, I haven’t found a timing or performance difference between the two.I looked up the parts numbers on the coils. 490, 4910, 501p and 501sx all have different parts numbers and prices. 501p is a different color too.
Are all, any, or none of the coils rev limited? I'm not sure I have heard the definitive answer...
. Very, very ugly.

That gasket was made from the wall of a milk carton. Worked well, looks terrible. Probably lost the bearings too.
I hope that’s it but I ordered a new 4910 coil along with seals and gaskets. Hoping I can flush the bearings. If not then there’s the opportunity for stroking experiments! It would be cool to cram a 6100 crank in there…Maybe burning sawdust caused the pop
If your throttle would only open 90% or so, that could explain the popping or 4 stroking. They will be quite rich if the throttle plate isn’t open.
Ported 394 syndrome…Yup at 75% throttle or so these carbs will go really wonky.
Was wondering that as well...If your throttle would only open 90% or so, that could explain the popping or 4 stroking. They will be quite rich if the throttle plate isn’t open.
Agreed. I’m not sure exactly how much throttle I was getting. 90% is in the ballpark. The boot angles down pretty close to the butterfly, so even a little bit could make a big difference. Hopefully Mr. Ruger fixed that.If your throttle would only open 90% or so, that could explain the popping or 4 stroking. They will be quite rich if the throttle plate isn’t open.
Yes. Definitely.No... maybe??
All work and no play makes Joe a dull boy.Nah.... Prolly be fun? Nope shouldn't be done.... But think of the fun.
Do what you feel.dont even think about it.... sure is tempting...
You’re welcome.Darn you @Ketchup
The throttle cable sheath stops in a recess in the floor. Once you lower the jug .050 or .060”, the cable is sometimes too long. Carb floor stays the same. Intake block, carb and elbow move down with the cylinderAgreed. I’m not sure exactly how much throttle I was getting. 90% is in the ballpark. Tell me more about ported 394 syndrome. I had a Miller Mod 394 that did have carb issues. Unfortunately that jug was sacrificed to the cracked intake gods.

An attempt at humor. The throttle position, like they said above, can do weird stuff with tune and fuel puddling.I hope that’s it but I ordered a new 4910 coil along with seals and gaskets.
