This year's GTG are going to be like the last two that we've had.

Blair County Game Fish and Foresty
301 Riggles Gap Sportsmen Rd, Altoona, PA 16601

I have also included the website (no title)

Anyone attending the GTG please make sure that you check in at the clubhouse when you arrive!

People can start arriving on Friday morning (because they shoot trap on Thursdays) who will be camping on site. The back road will be open to the trap range as it it easier to get campers up that road. Signs will be out directing people at usual.

Plates, napkins, plastic ware and cups will be provided.
There is good cold spring water that is always running for water if you'd like to bring your own containers.

Food/ meals that will be provided:

Friday 8th Supper: will be planning on pizza (hopefully at Scotty Overkill's again)! If not we can order out.

Saturday 9th
Breakfast:
Eggs, apple sausage, bacon and fried potatoes.

Lunch: (provided by the club) hamburgers, hot dogs and maybe some of there ox roast sandwiches that they had last year.

Supper: brisket, chicken, pulled pork.

Sunday is the farwell day. Any leftover food will be in the cooler's in the outdoor kitchen and you can feel free to get some food on the go if you wish.

Alcohol is allowed after hours and must stay on the trap range as long as it doesn't get out of control and only when the guns are away and the work is done for the day.

4 wheelers, side by sides are welcome as long as you check with the club to see what trails that you are allowed to ride on as long as you don't tear the place up.

Extra splitters and tractors/ machines to help with the work are welcome

Anyone who is a part of the GTG and helping to cut and split wood is allowed to shoot on the range for free.

We will be planning on having a raffle again.

I will be making a post for the raffle donations and a separate post for a food list and people can add to those posts. I will keep both list updated on both sites.

Don't forget to bring your favorite firearms!

Let's all have a good time get some work done and enjoy everyone's company as we always do!

Well so far off to a decent start with gathering some wood. Met my buddy Rusty (the guy that made the turkey call for last years raffle) back at the club today after work. We dropped about 12 trees but only around 9 were usable for firewood (the other's were pretty rotted) and got all the logs dragged up to the log pile.
I was surprised to see there was actually still some logs left there from last years GTG and probably at least a dump truck load that was cut and still needs split.
I am gonna try to get as nice of a pile as possible not sure how much really big stuff that I'll be able to get.
I know that I was talking to Rick last week and he mentioned about dropping some big tree's down up on the high power range (100 to 300 yard range) because some of the branches are really hanging out and you can't see the 300 yard range as well. So even if we don't have a big log pile we should still be able to have fun dropping some big tree's and gathering more logs.

I will wear my official n8 factory shirt. Can't wait to see you buddy. You still messing with the square filing by hand?
It'll be good to see you brother! No, I kind of temporarily abandoned that. I've been so busy building and running saws... Good Ole round is all I've had time for.

Sorry guy's I know that I haven't been to active lately. Since Dennis' GTG I've been extremely busy. Last Monday we had to put our dog to sleep then preparing for my oldest son's graduation for the physical therapy program last weekend then this past week I've been on vacation moving him to Pittsburgh and helping get stuff ready for his wedding today. My wife has been a total wreck these last two weeks.

I haven't even had hardly any time to even think about anything else.

This week coming up I am gonna try to get with Scotty to see if he'd be able to give me a hand gathering some more wood. That we'll be able to load logs in the dump truck and take rhem to the GTG area. There will be wood to cut and tree's to drop.
Some of the tree's are a little to big and they are on the wrong side of the bridge. They are to big to load and don't want to drag them across the bridge because they don't want to tear up the deck. So we either have to take a small crew of guy's with a splitter and process it there or cut it up into rounds and load them up and take them to the processing area.

As for the food, in the post on the first page the meats, main courses, plates, cups, napkins and plastic ware are taken care of.

So far only one person that I know of has contacted me and ask what to bring so that's why there hasn't been a food list for sides, snacks and desserts posted.

For the most part people will probably just bring the dishes, snacks, desserts and specialties that they usually bring along.

I don't want to speak for him but Walt and Robin are known for bringing the cast iron pies and coffee cake.

I believe that I said this in the first post but anyone that needs anything refrigerated can stop at the outdoor kitchen after you cross the bridge and place your stuff in the coolers.

I just ask that you please take care of placing what you brought out whenever you would like it to be served for whatever meal that you want it out for.

I talked to the club and they are going to be making their ox roast along with the hamburgers and hotdogs for lunch on Saturday.

As for the raffle prizes.....

As you saw on a previous post on theis page 41FanForLife is making a beautiful Walnut cutting board.
SBK1980 will be donating a knife and his wife Tanya plans on donating something of hers as well.
I will be donating a Stihl 028 that is in very nice shape and had the magnesium tank which I've heard that they are sought after. It may need some attention to the carb. I bought it years ago cut once with it and never used it again.

The club will be donating a gift basket.

PA Dan said he'll be donating a bowl.

So far these are the only people that I can remember that I talked to that will be donating items. I apologize if I left anyone out.

Now it's time to go do wedding stuff. Decorating and getting all dolled up! Yeah picture me all dolled up! I have my dress logger boots all spit shined and I got my dress jeans and prison shirt all cleaned and pressed with creases in them!
That's what Scotty would say.

No I'll be in a suit can you imagine that!

For anyone who has not been at this GTG here are the most simple directions that I can explain.

Blair County Game Fish and Forestry

301 Riggles Gap Sportsmen Rd, Altoona, PA 16601

(814) 942-8522

You will get off at the Pinecroft exit (the exit between Bellwood and Altoona exits).

Go through straight through the stop light till you hit the stop sign at the TEE.

Turn left. You will go around the bend and make the next right hand turn, I will have a GTG sign there (if you pass the fire hall you went to far).

Stay on that road till you come to the next stop sign, go straight (I will have a GTG sign there).

Stay on that road till you see the next GTG sign and turn right back the shale road ( it will be right under the Blair County Game Fish and Forestry sign).

For those of you that are bringing campers you will turn left off of the shale road and that will take you up to the back side of the trap range where the GTG site is.

Please check in at the lodge when you arrive and let them know that you are there for the GTG. The caretakers are a young couple their names are Rick and Sarah Merrits.

I double checked with Rick about people setting up campers today on the trap range.

The trap range is open and ready for campers.

People towing campers turn left at the sign before you cross the bridge. The gates should be open but if are closed you can open them there is no lock on the gates.

Please make sure that everyone checks in at the lodge after arrive.

Also the club bought extra food so they will also be provided a smaller spread for lunch on Friday for the early birds.

I'd like to send out a big thank you for everyone that attended and made this possible! Everyone had a wonderful time and we got a good bit of work done.
I was told that we cut and split 12 dump truck loads if wood and we were told that each load holds 1 ¹/² cords of wood. Wow that's alot of wood
:hair:
.
We ended up producing way more than what the club needs so the club is going to be donating the extra wood for needy families.

Good food, good stories and good friends and family!

Thank you all.
