My personal 500i, I’ve done 3 since and like the changes I made to them over this one, pleased with mine none the less. Thanks Randy (Mastermind) for info. 28” pine.

I love those 3pt felling dawgs. Best thing to come out since sliced bread! That saw sure gets with the program in that ponderosa pine

They are nice. Gordy up at West Coast Saw sure has things dialed in. I demoed this saw out to some fallers, they were very pleased. That’s all I need.

I'm not quite sold on a FI saw yet. I been burned on the autotunes and mtronic so I'm shy of electronic saws at this point. That said, the 500i looks and sounds promising, due to its cutoff saw background. What do ya'll think of that av system for use in a landing and felling chores?

I don't mind packin a 395 or 066 out felling, cause as you know in big timber, the stump holds the weight of the saw . Anyone with a spell or two of landing saw experience knows that a tough and light saw is a must for good production.
I usually had to limb and buck in a hot landing, so trying to keep up with a swinging grapple skidder and a fixed grapple 527 high track was near impossible, even running 4 log tapes.
If this 500i is tough enough for a landing saw, it will be a saw to be reckoned with

I have not heard of any fallers I know regretting buying them and all praise the weight to power ratio. Fallers aren’t doing much limbing anymore so the lack of high end is not much of an issue. If I were still out there I’d be using them. Light, smooth and good power.

I suppose it all depends on the user?

Bone stock the 500i makes the same hp as those 2, and 93% of the tq...

But a few lb lighter packing.

Longevity is tbd...

Yea that's a fact! I'm a rare breed out there, as most loggers now use dangle head or the now aging slide boom processors. There is still a few gyppo outfits that hand buck, mostly because the banks won't loan them big money for equipment
