Maxflo, and some thinned shafts make all the difference in some saws.

Could be functional diaphrams too, felt the mofo carb wasn't quite right. Swapped it with the cfb carb and filter. Saw picked up almost 1.2hp.

That’s on me. I shoulda tinkered with the carb before I sent it. I enjoyed running it so much I just never messed with it.

Wow was my reaction also … and where is the chart???

I had a milling job today and ran two of my MOFO saws and one of my own creations!

The 30" Norway Maple was so dead and dry that I only milled half of it and both my 36" chains were dull, so I will finish it another day!

I bucked the7.5' log with my MOFO 460 and did the milling with my MOFO "Eranor" (Big Bore 660) and my 066 with the un-ported Cross P+C.

All 3 saws ran very well, but the log was in direct sunlight and the owner was only available in the afternoon - so it was a little tough on me! The saws really had to be pushed through it, no self feeding with milling, and it was not on flat ground! It is the toughest log I have ever milled (I think because it was so dead + dry). But, the boards were nice! I was too spent for pics, maybe next time.

The carb/jetting is one of the bottlenecks that is left after you port the cylinder and muffler... can’t get out what you can’t get in. I’m surprised more don’t tinker with it. It isn’t easy work to do though, I can attest to that. I’m sure some saws benefit more than others obviously as well. I think it can be worth the effort.

I have the video, I'll make the graph when I get some time. Just got home from milking cows with my 4yo. He wanted to stay/help until all 35 were milked so he could feed the calfs.

Then we had to stop in town to see what that dairy is used for.... Mmmmm ice cream :)

A diesel would have a low cutting rpm, would be like a gear drive. Honda did research years ago and found someone around 12k rpm and engine is moving too fast for pre-ignition to occur, big factor why diesel don’t rpm well

Naturally aspirated diesels don’t really make appreciably more torque than gasoline/petrols, but they often make less power.

Naturally aspirated, like for like displacement and design the torque will be similar, it could go either way depending on the petrol/gasoline octane rating, it is more the engines intended design and performance characteristics that determine torque output curves.

Plenty of early gasoline tractors are slow revving with relatively high Torque.

Some had the same base engine that could be purchased as a Diesel, Gasoline/petrol, LP gas or all fuel model.

For slow revving engines The Diesel, petrol and LP models can have very similar outputs, regarding HP and Torque.

Diesels were a lot more efficient though.

Take the 1950s John Deere 730 for example, same basic engine but different fuels and fuel systems.

Diesel 375ci vs Gasoline 360ci 1125rpm twin cylinder, gasoline has around 2% more peak HP, 2.5% less peak torque and 4% less displacement

Yes the diesel has Power/torque left in it with a simple fuel rack adjustment, but the gasoline engine had rather sad compression ratio of 6.14:1 and Ron 87.5 fuel.

I do agree that Diesel make great torque with forced induction, because they LOVE BOOST, just nothing special without it.

Thing is though, they have to make large torque figures to make acceptable power at their lower than petrol/gasoline engine rpm numbers.

Sorry for the ramble.
