There's still loading technique - how fast and smooth the knob is turned.

Not enough to make a difference with the dampening done in the software.

I can stab the valve open and stall a saw in 4 seconds, the data "spike" is normally lower than what a peak power would be.

If I load it too slow the run and data points all repeat multiple times.

A good smooth run will be 12-15 seconds and drop every 100 rpm with no skips or duplicate rpm readings.

i concur. Not beating up on OP for how he does it, not one bit. It “would” be ideal if the load was computer controlled and applied the exact same on every saw. Not saying he doesn’t, from the videos i have seen it looks pretty consistent, but to remove any and all doubt it needs to be -00% the same every time. No, I do not know how to make the load the same. Just speaking for sake of scientific method. Please don’t beat me with dull chains

Is this *s-word really happening? One guy. His machine. His rep on the line. Shut the FU seriously right now you *frenching bishes.

Easy buddy. Its a discussion. No accusations of bias being made. We are spit balling to assist, not critiquing and criticizing. I’m sure the same thoughts have already run through his head, there are people here who have already done this type of set up who can offer some insight. That’s all.

Yea, not saying there's much variation going on here, but it is definitely something to consider.

I'm just too broke right now to build my own. I did do a little test trial of the eddie current brake last night to see if such a cheap dyno would be practical, and the results were promising.
