so put the timing wheel on and learned that i hadnt got as quite as far as i thought last time. still had transfer openings around 128-130, so lots of blowdown still. got muh sharpie out this time and ground up a bit more. ought to be right around 122–124 now.

well, i ran it after raising transfers. seemed to reach and hold rpm a little better. deleted fw key, gave it about the keywidth of advance. seems to like that. problem is it keeps skipping out of the oiler gear teeth and then binds up bigtime. im thinking whats happening is that the clutch drum bore has just a little too much play and when it hits the wood it just pulls on it enough to come out of the splines in the worm gear.

A shim in behind the plastic oiler gear holding it out would help. Gear gets worn out, and then the edges of the drivers start to get tapered and they wedge up against the drum. New worm gear fixes it for quite awhile

well apparently that worm gear is backordered for weeks. wtf is going on where a husqvarna dealer cant get or keep in stock a fairly basic wear item. pretty infuriating.

I'm sure someone here can supply you with a worm gear in the mean time. If I had one I would send it but that saw model is too new for me to have any parts lol.

i have one ordered…we’ll see what happens. in the meantime, i took the advice of the sausage king of east jordan and found a suitable washer for behind the worm gear. it required a bit of sanding on the worm gear to keep the clutch drum from being proud of the shoulder on crank where clutch bottoms out. we’ll see what happens haha.
