Thanks Fred. Nothing in particular, but I enjoy fabricating things, and I'd like to machine my own cylinders when working on saws.
Essentially a good tool to have in the shop.
I just bought a new one
Everytime I used my old one I had to work on it,kinda like a lawnmower.

Should have bought a new one years ago

My work has an 036 that's ran for who knows how long without a proper air filter. Dust and crap inside intake and it still had machine lines on the piston when I checked before putting a new filter on. Tuned it up and it was good to go. I am a husky guy but imo stihl builds the toughest saws out there. They may not be factory hotrods but they just take abuse and run.

I ported a 066 a while back that had ran for who knows how long with no airfilter at all.

Good saws for sure.

I'd be curious which sold the most out of a 034 036 044 660

I'm guessing 034

I think it is regional, in my area of the ones listed the 044 would be on top, for a long time if you didn't have an 044 you were nobody. The 036 would be second but it would be a distant second. I think I have only ever seen one or two 034s here, they just weren't a big sellar in this area. Byfar the 026 is king of the small saws down here though.

036 or 044 never did sell here.
I ain't seen a handful of either in 10 years from locals.
034 and 660 is what you see here.
Most here are loggers though

Very rare to see anything but a stihl
Seeing more 7910 dolmars now than before

Sweet!
And how about the old junkers you've got?
Only got one junker at the shop in bessville. I needed to get one for my shop to save driving a couple miles everytime I needed to use it.
Me and him own it but everytime I went to use it I'd have to setup again and it was a pia.
Bed feed quit again and I'm not touching it again.
No auto feed or manual feed.
Broke!

I don't know if there will ever be a better saw than a 034/036.

I have used the 036/361/362 series of saw for a while, I found them to be the best over all saw. I can send a man up in a tree with it to take a big top, or use it in the bucket truck, or cut brush and limb/top logs.

I like the dimensions of the saw personally, and enjoy how it works with a 20" sword. I have undoubtedly put more hours on a 036 than any other saw I've ever used. But my favorite saw ever is my 7910 lol
