ok is this clean enough to proceed, or do i need to get the Red gunk off the area around the Piston, and from the base of the Cylinder?

(I just put the thumbnails in the post, they should get bigger)

Mike,
Start with some shots of the piston and cylinder. Its an easy saw to put back together. let me know if you don't find the IPL/SM. I can get one if needed.
we need to find out what happened to the saw before we/YOU rebuild it.

start with ordering Stihl PN 5910 890 2415 its the long handle T27 wrench. I think it was $10 from stihl.
Let me know if theese T27 from stihl works good , i must order some pieces extra , usually loose them :eusa_whistle:

Assuming that's the new piston already mounted ? That's the hard part....everything else is duck soup.

1127 893 2602 two dollars and you make the part soft and your life also

Yup, it is one of many reasons I went with a 661 as replacement, and (after reading on here) intend to start running 40/42:1 from here on.
this time i have 4 stihls and one husqy , i cut about 700-800 cubic meters per year , all of them with 50:1 with stihl ultra from the first tank , never have problem
maybe i am very lucky

A lot of people don't believe the epa has a hold on oem's. The dealer should remove, center, and replace the limiter tabs if it's even possible. And show them how to tune a saw without a tach
He can show how to tune without tach ............. if he know how to do it , but the most of them open the specifications book read the high rpms put the tach and tune to the what the book say , no matter if the saw work corectly , no matter if this tach maybe have problem ................ then yes , you always do something wrong to the saw

I don't even know what a ring compressor is. If you mean just an air compressor, I have one of those.....
this for 1127 series like your part number 1127 893 2602 ask definitive dave ( member here ) or stihl dealer

Do I need to remove some of/more of the red stuff around the crank case/piston or just put sealant on the Cylinder and let it glue/harden for a day?
you always clean the old stuf before put new on , then after you assembley the parts leave theese silicones ( gasket makers ) for about 12-24 hours , to dry , then you can start the saw

I was hoping to find some of that loctite 518 stuff. Because in the Favorite Sealant Thread it sounded like the 518 was more forgiving to those who moved slower.
I have work from a cheapos to the most expensives , to tell you the truth are all the same *s-words , just leave them dry good for about 12 hours before you start the saw
now i use a cheapo , if you put the cheapo and the dirko to a can with fuel for 24 hours after they have dry you have the same results from theese two.
